Alice Ann Kellar

Alice Ann Hawkins Kellar passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was 94 years old. Born on March 8, 1930, in Stamps, to Harry P. and Alva Formby Hawkins, Alice Ann grew up in Waldo, where she graduated from Waldo High School. Following High School, she attended Harding College, where she met her husband of almost 73 years, Wayne Kellar.Alice Ann is survived by her children Stephen (Beverly) Kellar, Kim (Tim) Vick and Mary Ann (David) Presley. Surviving grandchildren Molly (Andy) Olsen, Janie-Ann (Marco) Orozco, Craig (Carrie) Vick, Kelsey (Jimmy) Sisk, Caroline (Ben) Beggs, Kyle (Autumn) Presley and Seth Presley. Surviving great grandchildren are Jack and Lucy Vick, James and Samuel Sisk, Myles, Maddex, Eisley and Kellar Presley, Kate and Louise Presley and Charlie Jane Orozco. Alice Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, just six months prior to her own death. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the College Church of Christ in Searcy. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Alice Ann’s greatest source of pride and joy was her family. She shared nearly 73 wonderful years with her beloved husband, Wayne, to whom she was deeply devoted. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Alice Ann took immense pride in her three children, always supporting and encouraging them in their lives. Her delight only grew as she became a grandmother to seven and a great-grandmother to eleven. She adored each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, finding joy in their achievements and the time spent together. Alice Ann’s legacy of love, dedication, and family will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. Alice Ann was a warm and hospitable soul, known for her open door policy of welcoming anyone dropping by for a visit. She had a remarkable ability to pull leftovers from the refrigerator and transform them into a delicious new meal. As a mentor to many college students at Harding University and the young married couples class at the College Church, she touched countless lives with her wisdom, compassion and guidance. Alice had a great sense of humor and was famous for pulling pranks on family and friends, always bringing laughter to those around her. She found joy in the simple pleasures, especially playing the piano and watching birds, with cardinals being her favorite. As an accomplished journalist, Alice Ann had a gift of story telling. She spent approximately eight years working at the Searcy Daily Citizen as a feature writer, reporter and editor. During that time, and in the years to follow, she wrote numerous engagement announcements, wedding write-ups, feature stories and obituaries, leaving a lasting mark on the community. Later she continued her career at Harding University where she worked in the Department of Publicity and Publications for 27 years.
