Ann Lynn Prior

Ann Lynn Prior, daughter of Homer Elvin and Emma Mina (Siegel) Hoff, was born November 27, 1944 at McCook, Nebraska. Ann grew up in the small rural Nebraska community of Wauneta. She attended grade school and high school in Wauneta. It was in second grade Ann met her future husband, Ron, for the first time. After graduation, she went on to college at Kearney State Teachers College where she received a BA in Elementary Education with emphasis on special education. Ann and Ron were married in Wauneta, Nebraska on June 11, 1967. Shortly after marrying, Ron and Ann moved to Ithaca, New York where Ann began teaching. In 1967, Ann was baptized into Christ during a “Campaign for Christ” meeting held in Philadelphia, PA. While in Ithaca, their son, Mark, was born on Feb.6, 1973. Later that year, they moved to Hastings, Nebraska. Ann was a busy housewife, mother, and very involved in church activities. In 1987, the family moved to the Boston, Massachusetts area. Ann was active in church activities. She also began and developed a passion for needle work. Her love for lighthouses began while living there. It brought them back year after year to the Bar Harbor area. The tradition continued for 20 years until Ann’s health did not allow it. In Feb 2000, Ann’s first granddaughter, Mallory, was born. This encouraged Ron and Ann to move to Arkansas. She enjoyed trips to the library and park with Mallory. Ann helped Diana teach bible class at Cabot Church of Christ. Ann’s love of sewing and needle work allowed her to make baby items for their store, The Tangerine Turtle. She continued to perfect her hobbies of needle work and sewing. She was part of the Bald Knob Extension Homemakers Club and helped with the White County Fair. In 2003, Ann was blessed with a second granddaughter, Addyson. Wanting to be closer and more involved with the kids, Ann and Ron built a house in 2007. Ann’s only grandson, Tucker, was born in 2013. Having survived breast cancer in 1999, Ann was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2016. She continued to show she was a fighter. Even while going through chemo, Ann still found joy in crocheting and needle work. While in the hospital, she finished a lighthouse cross stitch piece. Ann had started a John Deere tractor piece, but was unable to finish it because her hands were not stable enough. She also loved puzzles, card games, and Sudoku. Ann is survived by her devoted, loving best friend, and husband of 51 years, Ron, son, Mark Prior, daughter-in-law, Diana; two sisters Kay Hoff Christenson (Ronald Keith) of Clay Center, NE and Sue Hoff Rose of Superior, NE; three grandchildren, Mallory, Addyson, and Tucker Prior; four brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law; numerous extended family members. She also leaves behind many special friends. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Elwin and Emma Mina (Siegel) Hoff. In lieu of flowers, contributions as a memorial to Ann Prior can be made to the Cabot Church of Christ, 500 N 2nd St, Cabot, AR 72023
