Calvin H. Querry

On Thursday, February 20 at 5:25 p.m. our Lord and Savior called His faithful and loving son home. Our father, Calvin Harvadean Querry passed through the Pearly Gates of Heaven for his eternal reward. On May 13, 1938, Calvin H Querry was born to James F. and Frances C. (Bolls) Querry to complete their family of eight. Calvin served his country in the Navy for 24 years, earning the title of Navy Diver Master Chief. During his time stationed in Hawaii, he met the first love of his life, Alice (Lupe) Querry. Their marriage welcomed three children, Calvin, Dean and Twany. Upon his retirement from military service, our Lord called him to the Ministry of God, where he faithfully gave his heart and life to God’s message and goodwill. Calvin served in the ministry for 48 plus years, as the pastor of several churches in Arkansas as well as a Missionary Minister in El Salvador and Guatemala. His life was also filled educating students at ASU-Searcy as the automotive instructor for 10 years. After the passing of Lupe, Calvin was blessed to find the second love of his life, Shirley Martin Querry. Calvin and Shirley were married January 9, 2008 and he welcomed four more children into his life- Donna Merriman, Odell Martin, Cathy Southard and Becky Boice. Calvin Querry is preceded in death by his parents: James and Frances Querry, his most beloved first love, Alice (Lupe) Querry, sons Calvin Querry and Dean Querry; his first great granddaughter, Harley; sister, Bernice Franks; and brothers, Bill Querry, Cyrus Querry, and Eugene Querry. Calvin is survived by his wife, Shirley Martin Querry, children Twany Querry, Donna (Johnny) Merriman, Odell (Debbie) Martin, Cathy Southard and Becky (Tad) Boice; Sisters, Dorothy (Curtis) Hough and Shirley (Bill) Querry; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and an abundance of lifelong associates and church members. Calvin H. Querry, at the age of 86, has left an unforgetting mark upon our lives and hearts as he joyfully resides in the realm of His Savior and Lord. Our lives have lost a passionate and loving soul, but he is happy within God’s realm which has always been his lifelong goal. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home. Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob.
