Carl Gene Taylor

Carl Gene Taylor, 73, of Augusta, Arkansas passed from this life on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born July 31, 1949 in Augusta, Arkansas, to the late Harry Lewis and Mary Lucille Taylor. He married the love of his life, Brenda Fay Holler Taylor, on January 23, 1970. Carl was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was dedicated to his family. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl spent most of his days working at the farm and his afternoons at the pasture. He was a United States Army Veteran. After his time in the Army, he worked at Ford Automotive as a mechanic. Later he opened his own mechanic shop that he operated for several years. Carl enjoyed the outdoors and when he was able, he liked to go hunting and fishing. His favorite days were surrounded by his family and friends for a cookout. He will be missed by all those that knew him. He is survived by, his wife of 53 years, Brenda Fay Taylor, his two sons, Carl “Brandon” (Amanda) Taylor and Patrick (Tabitha) Taylor, his grandchildren, Kendall (Gregg) Lynn, Brandi Taylor, and Linley Taylor, his great grandchildren, Ansleigh Beal and Jaxon Lynn, his siblings, Linda (Wayne) Kidd, Diane (Paul) Brown, Debbie Skinner (Buck), Brenda Byerly, and Lou (Joe) Morris, sister in laws, Ruth (Mike) Sutter and Marie (Billy Wayne) Hollis, brother in law, Guy Byerly, he is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by, his parents, Harry Lewis and Mary Lucille Taylor; Fay Hill, Kathy Lee, Lewis Taylor, Robert Taylor, Dale Gallegy (Genoa), and Linda Holler. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 1,2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Augusta, Arkansas with Brother Jason Whitmire and Brian Byerly officiating. Visitation will be held prior to services from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow services at Augusta Memorial Park in Augusta, Arkansas. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are, Billy Joe Hollis, George Hollis, Matt Hollis, Mike Roberts, Robbie Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Jeremy Nguyen, and Nick Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers are, Truitt Hollis, Isaac Ashby, Jeff Madison, Rick Kidd, Randy Kidd, Nick Allen, Gregg Lynn, and Dewayne Whatley. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Woodruff County.
