Carroll Ray James

Carroll Ray James, 72, of Searcy, passed from this life on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at the John McClellan Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He was born January 15, 1951 in Russell, Arkansas to the late Norman Ray James and Juanita (Childers) James. On June 5, 1970 Carroll, or “CJ” as he was known to all, married his Bald Knob High School sweetheart, Lee Ann Pascoe. Soon after, he was drafted by the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War. Their marriage spanned more than 53 years and included two daughters, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way. Preceded in death by his parents, Norman James and Juanita (Childers) James Cypret, and grandmother, Ida (McGillvray) Childers Barnes; he will also be reunited with his infant brother, whom he remembered and spoke of often, Jerry James. He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann (Pascoe) James; daughters, Melanie James Blasingame (Clif) of North Little Rock and Amanda James Miller (Kevin) of Angier, North Carolina; brother Jimmy James (Sandy) of Searcy. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren, grandson, Jacob Miller and granddaughters, Kalli Miller Parrott (Daniel), Riley Miller, Drew Martens, and Hayden Martens. Although there are too many to mention here, he leaves behind aunts, cousins, sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends who have a lifetime of wonderful memories. If the value of one’s life can be measured in friendships then CJ was a wealthy man. To list everyone that knew and loved him would fill volumes. A proud Teamster, he earned his living driving a lowboy in the pipeline field where he made friends from all over the country. Never one to sit still, he loved working on old cars and trucks, “junking,” and generally coming up with ways to drive Lee Ann crazy! Rest well, CJ: Husband, Dad, PaDaddy, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Friend. Gone but never forgotten, the good times and laughter will always live on in our hearts. Visitation will be from 11:30am-1:30pm on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel, Bald Knob-Judsonia.
