Charles Wayne Roberson

Wayne Roberson, 82, of Oil trough passed from this life on January 2, 2022. He was born April 14, 1939 in Aydelott, Arkansas to the late Jeff and Hallie (Riddle) Roberson. Wayne was born, raised, and passed away in the place that he loved the most, the Roberson Family Farm. He was a graduate of Oil Trough High School. On June 26, 1960, Wayne married the love of his life, Jena Carter Roberson. Together they raised three children: Charles Roberson, Paul Roberson, and Nicole Roberson McChrisitan. Wayne spent his entire life farming the land from his youth until his final days but was involved in so many other business ventures along the way. Wayne and Jena bought a little grocery store in Oil Trough that was destroyed by a tornado. Not defeated, they cleaned up and opened the IGA grocery store, which remained open for many years. The IGA grocery store is where Wayne used his skills as a butcher, a trade he learned from Glenn Hill. In 1974, he opened Roberson Well Drilling, where he provided irrigation, as well as domestic wells, for many local farmers and families in the Oil Trough Bottoms and other areas of Northeast Arkansas. Wayne and Jena opened up a parts and hardware store in 1976 located in Newark called Roberson Supply. Later, the store was branded to Parts Plus and they opened two other locations under this brand, one in Newport and one in Grubbs. Wayne was never afraid to try new things and he lived life to the fullest. He was not afraid to step out and open a new business or try something different. He was an instrument rated pilot and enjoyed taking off from his airstrip and flying his Cessna 150 and Cherokee 6 over the farm or taking his family on vacation. He was an avid hunter and loved to take his children hunting on cold, crisp mornings. He loved the sunrise, and he was an early riser, so he was able to enjoy many of them. He was a hard worker and a good man who loved and cherished his family. He will be missed beyond measure. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jena Carter Roberson; his children, Charles Roberson, and Nicole Roberson McChristian; daughter in law, Tammy Roberson; son in law, Jerry McChristian; grandchildren, Alexis Roberson Richardson, Tatum Roberson, Ciara Roberson, Noah Roberson, Bailey McChristian, Halie Roberson, Siena Roberson, and Karley McChristian; brothers, Jerry Roberson and Jim Roberson; nephews, Mark Corn, Tony Roberson, and James Roberson; a great nephew, Zach Roberson; and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Hallie Roberson; a sister, Carolyn Roberson; and a son, Paul Roberson.
