Christene Cockrum Davis

Christene Cockrum Davis went to sleep at 3:00 a.m., on July 16, 2021 and woke up in heaven with no more sorrow and no more pain. She and Jesus walked on streets of gold. She had been suffering with congestive heart failure, neuropathy, fluid on her body and Covid-19. She was being treated in Baptist ICU where she was made comfortable in her final hours. She was born February 25, 1938 in Wilburn, AR to the late Rev. Robert and Florene Cockrum. She fought the good fight and ran the race set before her that ended in Gods arms. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all who loved her. Christene was a member of the 1st General Baptist Church in Memphis. Her goal in life was to care for and comfort her patients, and show them that she cared and she challenged everyone around her to show that compassion as they took care of their patients. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wayne Cockrum; sister, Carrie Hays of Kentucky; step-brother, Jesse Cockrum and step-sister, Lovetta Spencer. She is survived by her brother, Chaplin Alfred J. Cockrum and wife, Dorothy; sisters, Maxine Huntsman, Olevia Huntsman and husband, Ralph, Yvonne King and husband, Bruce; and her son’s family Bob, Stephanie and Rebekah Davis. Christene C. Davis was a registered nurse and worked for Baptist Hospital for 38 years. Chris received her degree from Baptist School of Nursing. During her career she was a charge nurse, supervisor educator and worked in one day outpatient surgery. She was attractive and intelligent and had a mind like a steel trap. She could remember events, people, locations and every detail. Her ability to remember “EVERYTHING” was great for her patients and coworkers; however, it could be a problem her young son trying to get things past her. She was a perfectionist and strived to be the best at everything she did. There were many good nurses that helped take care of her and they were taking care of her needs like she took care of needs of her patients. We are not as those with no hope for the hope that passes all understanding lives in us and we will see her once again. Graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Shady Grove Cemetery-Steward Addition in Bald Knob, AR.
