Douglas Johnny William Stubbs

Douglas Johnny William Stubbs age 79, of Okarche, Oklahoma passed peacefully from this life on December 20, 2022 at his home. Doug was born August 24, 1943 in Charolette, Arkansas, to John Henry Stubbs of Red Stripe Arkansas and Edith Winchester of Moorefield Arkansas. Doug married Katherine Barbara Belford July 5, 1968 in Eaton, Ind. Doug and Katherine had one daughter Dena Sue Stubbs-Edwards and three wonderful bonus children who he loved dearly, Florence Ann Thomas-Grace, Kenneth Ronald Thomas and Peggy Sue Thomas-Page. Doug served in the U.S. Army. After his service he returned home to Bald Knob, Arkansas. Doug began a career as a pipeliner in 1974 and retired as a Journeyman from Local Union 798 September 1, 2000. He traveled the United States from job to job for many years and made friends across the country. Douglas accepted the Lord Jesus into his heart many years ago at Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Bald Knob, Ar. He would also tell you he has been sprinkled, dipped and sprayed in the Catholic, Lutheran and Methodist church as a young boy. Douglas was also a Free Mason for many years and Past Worthy Patron in the Eastern Star. Doug enjoyed time with family and friends during his 79 years. He enjoyed his morning and afternoon coffees through the years at either The Market Café in Bald Knob, AR, or the Mooreland Café or at the Phillips 66 in Okarche, Ok. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Katherine Barbara Belford Stubbs, his mother Edith Winchester-Beck and father, John Henry Stubbs, brother James Stubbs, sister Nadine Forbes, Son Kenneth Ronald Thomas, daughter Florence Ann Grace and grandson Douglas James Page. Doug leaves behind two children Peggy Sue Thomas-Page (Max Ballew) of Cabot, Ar and Dena Sue Stubbs-Edwards (Jim Edwards) of Okarche, Ok; One brother Billy Bazzel, 8 grand-children, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren with one on the way. Many nephews and nieces he loved dearly. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 4:00p.m. - 6:00 p.m.at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Searcy. Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery in Russell.
