Edward "Ed" L. McZegle

Edward Leroy McZegle, 79, of Searcy, passed away on July 23, 2026, at his home. He was born on October 26, 1946, in Jerico Springs, Missouri to the late Edward and Annabell (Anderson) McZegle. Edward was a hardworking man whose greatest joys in life were his family, the open road, and the simple pleasures that brought people together. He spent many years crop farming on his family’s farm, where his strong work ethic and dedication were evident in everything he did. Edward loved riding motorcycles, traveling, and taking cruises to explore new places. He was always on the hunt for a great deal on eBay and enjoyed discovering hidden “hole-in-the-wall” restaurants that served some of the best food around. He also loved spending time in his garage, where he was happiest working on projects and tinkering. In the fall, you could usually find him watching football, especially if the Kansas City Chiefs were playing. Known for being hardworking and stubborn, Edward also possessed a heart of gold. He was selfless, generous, and the kind of man who would give anyone the shirt off his back without hesitation. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. His kindness, loyalty, and unwavering love for those around him will be remembered always. He is survived by his wife, Amanda McZegle of Searcy, AR; siblings, John “Jim” McZegle of Paris, TX, Patsy Hannen of Kansas City, MO, Linda Clouse of Nevada, MO, Janet Sackreiter of Kaufman, TX, and Shirley Moorman of Dallas, TX; brother-in-law, Anthony Parker of Lexington, TN; sister-in-law, Sheila Covey of Searcy, AR; grandchildren, Breanna (David “Cole” Prince) Watkins of Springfield, MO, Jaycee (Tyler) Belew of Sheldon, MO, Angelica (Shawn) Lawrence of Neosho, MO, Cory (Sydney) Covington of Searcy, AR, Bryon Webb of Searcy, AR, Octavius Zedrick Baker of Searcy, AR, and Augustus Jared Baker of Searcy, AR; great grandkids, Holden and Carson Belew of Sheldon, MO, Jude and Oliver Lawrence of Neosho, MO, and Finley and Luca Covington of Searcy, AR; step children, Rhonda (Dennis) Covington-Webb of Searcy, AR, and Garry “Lynn” (Agnes) Baker or Searcy, AR; and step mother, Zelma Parker of Searcy, AR. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Annabell McZegle of Sheldon, MO; sister, Sharon Stevens of Kaufman, TX; brother-in-law, Gordon LaRue Parker of Searcy, AR; children, Edward McZegle Jr of Kansas City, MO, Jeffery McZegle of Sheldon, MO, Alisa McZegle of Joplin, MO, and Michelle Beattie of Kansas City, MO. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 1:00pm, at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Visitation will be held prior, beginning at 12:30pm.
