Emmie P. Lowery

Emmie P. Lowery, 86, of Judsonia, AR formerly of Corinth, MS, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 25, 2025. She was born December 24, 1938 in Providence, Arkansas to the late Hugh Andrew and Martha Hill Pruitt. Emmie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born prematurely and wasn’t expected to live more than a few days. However, the doctor did not know that Emmie was strong, resilient, and had a will and purpose to live. Emmie not only survived but she lived her life to its fullest the entire 86 years she was here. Emmie was a woman who proved that you can be anything you want to be. Throughout her life she excelled in many careers; mother, homemaker, teacher, volunteer, counselor for domestic violence, political campaigner, seamstress, cabinet builder, and factory laborer. She was an extraordinary role model for her children as well as for those around her. Above all the titles she carried through the years, the most important was devoted Christian. Emmie was a long-time member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where she played piano. No matter the circumstances, Emmie always made serving the lord her priority and made sure her children were involved in the church. Emmie leaves her family with precious memories, life lessons, and a strong faith in Jesus. She will be deeply missed by her loved ones. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Hugh Stewart, her daughter, Juliana (John) Plaxico, her grandchildren, Von Culver, Bobby Stewart, Caroline Smart, and Tanya Bowren, her great grandchildren, Jaken Culver, Aiden Whiteaker, Gabriel Stewart,Riley Culver, Elliott Tedford, Drake Stewart, Xander Culver, Everly Bowren, Lily Culver, and Ember Stewart. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Henry Stewart, her infant son, Steven Doyle Stewart, and her four sisters, Lillie Seymore, Clara Altom, Ova Waire, and Nell Farrar. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Cemetery in Providence, Arkansas. Burial will follow services in Providence Cemetery.
