Gary Keith Wilson

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true servant of Jesus Christ, Gary Keith Wilson, a man whose life was defined by faith, love, intelligence, and selflessness. Gary passed away after being diagnosed with several unexpected health complications from lymphoma on November 24, 2024, at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will endure for generations to come. Gary was born April 12, 1952, in Hamilton, AL, and grew up in Fulton, MS. He attended Itawamba Junior College and transferred to Harding University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Math. He chose Mississippi State University to complete his master's degree in Pest Management. After graduating, he worked as an extension agent with LSU AgCenter Cooperative Extension Service in Monroe, LA, before retiring and moving to Beebe, AR. Gary was a man of remarkable intelligence, always curious and eager to learn. His avid thirst for knowledge was such that before the advent of the Internet, one needed only to ask Gary for the answer to any question, which led his family to refer to him teasingly as the Walking Encyclopedia. Gary loved exploring nature, rock and fossil hunting, traveling, and was an active sports enthusiast throughout his life. In his younger years he played football, and as an adult he enjoyed such activities as softball, racquetball, cycling, and running. Among his athletic achievements was completing the Dallas-White Rock marathon, a testament to his determination and love for challenges. In more recent times, he developed a passion for pickleball, where his enthusiasm for the game brought him joy, camaraderie, and a sense of community with fellow players. Whether on or off the court, he exemplified good sportsmanship and brought a cheerful spirit to every match. What truly set Gary apart was his boundless selflessness. He lived his life in service to others, always placing the needs of his family, friends, and community before his own. His acts of kindness were many, yet always quiet and humble—a reflection of his genuine and generous spirit. Faith was the cornerstone of Gary's life. His devotion to God guided his actions and gave him strength throughout his journey. He approached each day with a heart full of gratitude and trust in God’s plan, sharing his faith through his deeds and his words. His steadfast belief was a source of comfort to his family and all who knew him. Gary was a devoted father who adored his children beyond measure. He anticipated their every need and was their protector, their teacher, and their greatest champion. Whether it was offering comfort during tough times, celebrating their achievements, or simply being present for life’s small moments, he embraced fatherhood with love and unwavering commitment. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his legacy will live on through their lives and the values he instilled in them. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Argie and Faye Wilson. He is survived by his children Emily (Aaron) Huckabee, Monroe, LA; Orin (Kim) Wilson, Colorado Springs, CO; and Amy (Kevin) Crozier, Gallatin, TN; his grandchildren Grayson, Atlee Grayce, Baylen Brooks, Juniper Rae, and Graham Wilder Wilson; Colorado Springs, CO; his siblings Billie Barnes, Glendale, WI; and Galen Wilson (Apollo Beach, FL); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory and honor his extraordinary life. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Gary's spirit will remain with us always. His compassion, wisdom, and love will guide us as we continue to carry forward the lessons he so selflessly shared. A celebration of Gary’s life will take place on December 29, 2024,1:30 PM, at Beebe Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Beebe church of Christ, whose spiritual community he held dear. Rest in peace, dear Gary. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, and you will be missed beyond words.
