Gloria Jean Turner

Gloria Jean (Wallace) Turner, 73 of Conway, AR, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in North Little Rock, AR. Gloria was born on October 30, 1951, in Baton Rouge, LA, to the late Al East and Dorothy (Anderson) Wallace. Gloria, affectionately known as Jean, was a God-fearing woman and a faithful member of St. Mary CME Church until her passing. Jean was a 1970 graduate of Capitol Senior High School in Baton Rouge, LA. After high school, Jean was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, James T. Turner, and she relocated to Searcy, AR. To this union three children were born, Gloria (Yvette), James II, and Henry. More recently, Jean relocated to Conway, AR. Jean was known for her quiet, gentle spirit and her unwavering faith in the Lord. She enjoyed driving solo to Louisiana to visit her family, watching soap operas and discussing them with her friends, watching movies, and listening to R&B music. Her life was dedicated to her family, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Al East Wallace and Dorothy (Anderson) Wallace, and her stepmother Laura L. Wallace; her brother, Ronald J. Wallace; and her husband of 45 years, James T. Turner. Left to cherish her memories are her children, daughter, Gloria Y. Carlock (Chris) of North Little Rock, AR; sons, James T. Turner II (Kenise) of Dallas, TX, and Henry B. Turner of Conway, AR; granddaughters, Kaila, Aja, and Christina Carlock of North Little Rock, AR; brother, Al Jai Wallace (Robyn) of New Orleans, LA; sister, Nancy Wallace of Baton Rouge, LA; nieces, Aryn Wallace, and Myya Wallace of New Orleans, LA, and Alyn Wallace of Cambridge, MA; Sister-in-laws, Pamela Scott of Little Rock, AR, and Elizabeth Farmer (Mitchell) of Searcy, AR; beloved cousins, Danny Roetzel of Maumelle, AR, Rev. Dr. Daniel Smith, Sr. (Barbara) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Margie Jenkins (Melvin) of Zachary, LA; and a host of other relatives and friends. A wake will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:30pm - 7:00pm at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 9:00am at Powell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
