Ida Mae Burchfield

Mae Cloyes Burchfield, known to many as Nonnie, went to be with the Lord on February 9th, 2025. Born October 25th, 1935, to the late Clarence Arthur Cloyes and late Ethel Moody Deeter, Mae was raised with her three beloved brothers, the late Billy Rae Cloyes, the late Harold Cloyes, and the late Douglas Cloyes. March of 1956, she married her beloved Bennie Joe Burchfield, and they remained married for sixty-seven years until his passing in 2023. Together they built a family and legacy in their children that continues to grow. They had a daughter, Janie (Phillip) and a son Billy (Terri) both from Bald Knob. From there the family blossomed into five grandchildren, Farrah (Tom), B.J., Abby, Justin (Amy), Brandon (Shana), and Samantha (Tyler). She also adored her ten great-grandchildren, Cloyee, Jax, Bryer, Jagger, Brayden (Kyla), Beau Jase, Wyatt, Tenley, Cayden, and Oakleigh. And finally, two great-great grandchildren Salem and Baylor. Nonnie’s kitchen was always open and always the center of our universe. She taught us the meaning of family and how to love. She traveled with Pa all over the United States while pipelining and left a legacy of love everywhere she went. Sunday dinner after church was her tradition for years. She had a giving heart and loved to serve. If you knew her you were probably on the receiving end of her yummy candy during the holiday season or have received one of her famous scrapbooks at graduation. She loved the school and loved her Bulldogs. She served many years on the Cemetery Board and the Chamber of Commerce, being named Citizen of the Year in 2003. She worked many jobs but her favorite times were spent at the school when she worked at the preschool and kindergarten. She was a lifetime member of the Central Baptist Church and attended Independence Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her family and loved the Lord and loved to share about both. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob with Bro. Wesley Roberts officiating. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery.
