Jackie Bernice Carter

Jackie Bernice Carter, 64, of Augusta, Arkansas, departed this world unexpectedly on April 6, 2026. Jackie was born on April 12, 1961, in Augusta, Arkansas, to Jack and Geneva Carter. After high school, Jackie enlisted in the Arkansas Army National Guard, where he proudly served for seven and a half years. On August 31, 1979, Jackie married his best friend, Diane (Jones). He was blessed with two sons, whom he loved beyond words. Irvin and Scottie were his greatest joy- each one a reflection of his pride and legacy of his love. Together, Jackie and Diane built a blessed life full of love, laughter, and adventure over 46 years. Jackie spent many years as a truck driver, traveling the country with Diane by his side. Later, he served as a correctional officer for six years before retiring. A true jack of all trades, Jackie enjoyed a wide range of hobbies. He loved doing anything and everything with his wife, sitting on the porch watching the chickens roam, and indulging in his favorite peanut butter fudge. While his boys were young, he was very involved in boy scouts and went on many adventures with his troop. He found joy in fishing, beekeeping, and spending time with his beloved dogs, Lilly and Dakota. In his younger years, Jackie could often be found in the woods hunting, especially coons. Though Jackie was a man of many talents, he was a gifted painter. He was always prepared for whatever life might bring and was well known for playfully pestering those he loved most. Jackie enjoyed playing dominoes with his family and was always up for a good debate. Above all, Jackie cherished his family and took great pride in spoiling his grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than being a Pawpaw to his five grandkids. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Carter; his parents, Jack and Geneva Carter; his sons, Irvin (Karly) Carter and Scottie (Hollie) Carter; his grandchildren, Melody, McKinley, Jason, Mason, and Julie; his sisters, Gina Brown and DeeDee Graves of Augusta; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Alma Carter, and Bernice (namesake) and Agnes Johnson. A funeral service will be held at Powell Funeral Home in Augusta, Arkansas, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Though our hearts may be troubled, we rejoice knowing Jackie is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
