James "Jim" Majors

James "Jim" Majors, retired Army, passed away on February 21, 2022 at the age of 69 in his home in Searcy, Arkansas. He faced serious medical issues the last few months, but he faced each challenge of his illness with courage, optimistic hope, and with encouraging words for family and friends. He stayed strong until the very end. James married his childhood sweetheart Mary Ann Brown on February 2, 1973. They were married 49 happy years. James was raised in Woodruff County. He graduated from McCrory High School in 1972. He joined the Army National Guard upon graduation. He loved the guard so much that it became his dream job serving as an Arkansas, Army National Guard Recruiter for 30 plus years. He retired from his supervisor leadership position in 2000. He then unretired and took the leadership role as a Civilian Contractor for the National Guard Educational Liaison Program. He presented to school counselors all over the state of Arkansas. He did this job for 8 years. He decided to really retire and spend more time doing many hobbies. He would fish, go hunting, garden, and tinker in his man-cave shop and try to catch every Arkansas football, basketball and baseball game on TV. He was passionate about sports. Words used to describe him were " The happy light of the family, quick witted story teller, strong Christian leader always serving others, funny all the time, cheerful, honest, reliable, supportive, courageous, compassionate and a very loving man. To his great nephews and great nieces, he was Uncle Docker because he could make the loudest noise with his tongue. James was preceded in death by his parents John Majors and Mildred Pruitt Majors; 5 sisters and 3 brothers. He survived by his wife Mary Majors of Searcy; Daughter Karesa Daugherty and son, Brian Majors of Little Rock; 3 grandchildren, Skyler Majors of Searcy, Kailen Daugherty of Fayetteville, and Aiden Hall of Greenbrier. James also leaves a large close family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and friends all over Arkansas. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Temple Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Providence Cemetery.
