Jerry Cox

Jerry Cox of Velvet Ridge received his healing and now has the “new body” he had asked for just two days before. Jerry passed away at Unity Health in Searcy, Arkansas on Sunday, November 12, 2017. He was born in Bradford on June 29, 1957 to Troy and Betty Cox who survive him. Jerry married Bernadette Nick on May 21, 1979 and remained a loving husband, best friend and provider. They were blessed with two children, daughter, Suzanne Cox and son, Lucas Cox and wife Magan. They blessed the family with three grandchildren, Suzanne’s daughter, Harmony and Lucas and Magan’s son, Trenton and daughter, Aya. He adored them all. Sherry Algood came into the Cox family years ago and remained an “adopted” family member. He is also survived by his two sisters, Annette Conley and husband Joe and their daughters Amanda and Sarah and Denise Tyler and husband Jay and children Candace, Coy and Jason. Jerry was blessed with a large and loving extended family and an abundance of friends and co-workers. He also loved his special “buddy” and caregiver, Whitney Swindle who not only cared for his physical needs but loved and cared for him otherwise. Special thanks to the staff on 3 West at Unity Health for the care they gave him as well as Dr. Jim Citty, who has been his physician but more importantly a friend and encourager to him for many years. As owner of Cox Paving he was surrounded by a group of employees that became more like family than employees and helped him with the problem he had of being a complete “workaholic”. They have all gone above and beyond during his sickness to make things as easy for him as possible. He loved God, he loved God’s word and he loved to teach about it whether one on one or in a large class. He finally is out of pain and is home with those gone before that he loved so.
