With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joshua Lynn Altom, 45, of Searcy, Arkansas, who left this world too soon on January 9, 2025. Josh was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Josh was married to the love of his life, Kimberly Altom, for almost 23 years and together they built a beautiful family filled with love and laughter. He was the proud and devoted father of two sons, Hunter and Hayden, who were his greatest joy and his proudest accomplishments. Josh’s family was his everything and his love for them was as boundless as his incredible hugs, which anyone lucky enough to receive will never forget. Known for his kindness, humor, and determination, Josh worked at XPO for over 19 years, where he climbed the ranks through hard work and perseverance, ultimately becoming a respected member of management. He took great pride in his work and in the relationships he built with his colleagues. Josh had a passion for life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and singing, especially the hymnals out of The Heavenly Highway Hymns—whether it was at church or just for fun with those he loved. As much as Josh loved his family, he loved Jesus more and if he was here right now, he would tell you all that following Jesus is the most important decision of your life. And, of course, no one could rival his love for a cold Dr Pepper. It was a small, endearing part of who he was—a reminder that joy can be found in life’s simple pleasures. Josh leaves behind his beloved wife, Kimberly; his two treasured sons, Hunter and his wife Kristin, Hayden, Carina (his daughter not by blood, but by love), his mother, Julie Duke, and her husband, Walter; his father, Lowell Altom, and his wife, Patricia; his brother, Gene Altom and his wife, Samantha, as well as his in-laws, John and Shirley Barnum, whom Josh always jokingly told he was their favorite son . He also leaves behind countless family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and steadfast love. Above all, Josh was the embodiment of love. He was the best husband, the best dad, the best son and so much more. His caring spirit, genuine warmth, and unyielding support for his family and friends made him unforgettable. He gave his heart fully and unconditionally to those he loved. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. A celebration of Josh’s life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00pm at Powell Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Howell Cemetery in Searcy. In honor of his memory, the family asks that you enjoy a Dr Pepper in his name and remember to hold your loved ones close, just as Joshua always did.
