Kalista "Jane" Shae-Lyn Altom

Kalista Shae-Lyn Altom, known to most as Kalista Jane, entered Heaven’s gates on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the age of 19. Born on November 22, 2003 in Searcy, Arkansas to Timothy and Brandy Altom, Kalista became the final piece that made this family complete. Anyone who knew her would tell you she was the most vibrant and caring person one would ever meet. She could light up the room with her smile. Her beauty was not only evident on the outside for the world to see, but radiated from within. She had a heart of gold. She loved life. She was the only girl, with 3 older brothers that were her protectors. Even though she was the baby sister, don’t think for a minute she couldn’t take them. She had to be tough to stand up to them and she was. They taught her to be strong. However, no matter how much they aggravated each other, especially her and Daniel, there was no doubt she loved them dearly. She loved her family with all her heart and soul. She was her daddy’s princess, and her mother’s angel. She dressed in Her Style and hated wearing shoes. She may not have been perfect but she was perfect for our family. She was a talented young lady that had a love of so many things. She loved to play basketball, softball, cheerleading, singing, but most of all horse showing and rodeo. She had the privilege of showing with the Hillbilly Horse Show Association for 14 years with her Uncle Michael Altom who nicknamed her ‘Kal-licker’ at an earlier age. Kalista had just recently changed to the NAWA Association. She was excited about this new adventure and was looking forward to showing this year with her brother Brandon, sister-in-law Terri and her nieces Sadie and Lyndy. She was currently attending Williams Baptist University in Walnut Ridge on a basketball scholarship, where she was planning on earning a degree in Sports Management. She was looking forward to her second year of playing college basketball. She loved hanging out with friends, especially cherishing the time spent the past year with her two special friends: Eddie Vega and Blair Henry. Like the stars in the sky, her friend’s list is too numerous to count. Her sweet nature always drew a crowd to her wherever she went. Kalista was a member of Lifeline Southern Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains AR. She grew up in the church and now helped with the nursery. She enjoyed singing praises to the Lord with her brother Caleb playing the guitar for her and always tried talking Emily into singing with her. She said Emily had the sweetest voice. She had a sincere love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and you could see that in her smile and kind personality. She always let her light shine and one knew she was a Christian. Kalista is survived by her parents Timothy and Brandy Altom of Pangburn, Brothers: Brandon Mycal Altom, wife Terry, of Floral; Corporal Timothy Caleb Altom and wife Emily of Bradford; and Daniel Altom of Pangburn; nieces: Sadie Lee Altom and Lyndy Jane Altom of Floral; two special cousins who she thought of as brothers, Beckhem and Boston Minner of the home; her German sister, Robin Lissner of Germany, and a host of extended family and friends. Kalista adored her grandparents, her aunts, and her uncles, her greats and great-greats as well as her many cousins. Kalista loved her family. Her Nana was her rock who she turned to many times for advice, encouragement and help on schoolwork. She cherished her Papa Sutter, Papa Jack and Papa Terry and every minute she got to spend with them. She loved spending time with her Uncle Mike, her favorite Uncle Fuzz, throwing the football in the yard or letting him coach her in all aspects of life. Her Aunt Vonda was always only a phone call away and Kalista had that number on speed dial and used it! The bond she had with all of her aunts was strong and she turned to them many times for advice. She was so excited every time she had the chance to pester her uncles, as well. She was blessed beyond measure with each and every relationship she had with her cousins, especially Audriana, Ryan and Cheyenne, but every one of them held a special place in her heart. She also had an unbreakable bond with Harvey Main, and Eric and Tina Reaper who supported her in every adventure she had as well as many others too numerous to mention. She is the granddaughter of Jackie and Paula Altom of Pangburn; the late Margie Altom; Terry and Sandra Turner of Bradford, Great Granddaughter of Lewie Roy Sutter Jr. of Pleasant Plains and the late Rebecca Sutter (Granny); The late Max and Clara Altom; Uncles: Jason Turner (Shannon);Jacob Turner (Shelby); Aunts: Marybeth Altom; Gideon (Dustin)Burrow; Taylor Minner and cousins galore. She was greeted in Heaven by her Granny Sutter, Grandma Clara, and MaMaw Margie who all thought she was the light of the world and she got to meet her Grandpa Max for the first time. Visitation will be Monday, May 8, 2023 at Lifeline Southern Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains (161 Sunnydale Road) from 5 o'clock until 8 o’clock. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 2 o’clock also at Lifeline Southern Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Olive Branch Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Pallbearers will be: Brandon Altom, Caleb Altom, Daniel Altom, Eddie Vega, Jason Turner, Jacob Turner, Michael Harris, Sr., Michael Bruce Harris, Jr. Michael Sutter, Michael Altom, Randy Altom, Colton Young, Brendon Moffett-Gehring, Weston Pate, Andy Cox, and Clay Kurck. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Eric Reaper, Harvey Main, Woody Pearson, Tim Wilf, Scotty Passmore, Ryan Quinn, Skylar Sutter, Johnie Altom, and John Ronald Shivers.
