LaDonna Kay Moore

LaDonna "Kay" Betts Moore, 71, of Searcy, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born on May 13, 1951, in Searcy, she was the only daughter of the late Omer and Bernice Betts of Pangburn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Monty Betts; her maternal grandparents Garland and Ona Williams; and her paternal grandparents Thamer and Jessie Betts. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Larry Moore; her son Heath Moore (April); her daughter Nicole Moore Davis (Michael), all of Searcy; eight grandchildren, Braden; Cade; Adalynn; Keylan; Clayton (Alicia); Zachary (Kaitlyn); Katie; and Riley; two great grandchildren, Raelynn and Wrenlee. She is also survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Kay graduated from Pangburn High School in 1969 and from Arkansas State University in 1972. A longtime educator, she began her 30-year teaching career in special education and was employed by the Augusta, Beebe, and Heber Springs school districts before starting the special education program at Pangburn. She later transferred to teaching fourth grade at Pangburn until she retired in 2003. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Searcy and a member of the Pangburn P.E.O Chapter DR. She was a true example of a strong Christian woman, serving the Lord in any way she could. She always put the needs of others ahead of her own. Her strong faith and positive attitude carried her through many difficult health struggles in the past few years. An avid reader and a great cook, Kay loved Christmas; collecting owls; the beauty of flowers and plants; vacations; and most of all, spending time with her family. Visitation will be Saturday, April 8, at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be Monday, April 10, at 1:00pm at Trinity Baptist Church in Searcy. Burial will follow at Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn.
