Lela Louise Langer

Lela Louise Langer, 72, originally from Romance, Arkansas, departed this life on January 20, 2025, at her home in Joplin, Missouri. She peacefully passed away under hospice care, surrounded by her family. She was born November 6, 1952, in Santa Paula, California to the late Bill and Betty Webb. Lela was a loyal wife of nearly 54 years, a dedicated sister, and a firecracker mom to her three children. The role she loved the most was granny to her 8 grandchildren whom she fiercely loved. She always said if she knew how much fun they were, she would have had them first. Albert and Lela were married on her 18th birthday and were inseparable. After he passed, she grieved so severely that her time was short on this earth. In the last six months, as her health failed, she spent time with her grandchildren and children as she attended tennis tournaments, volleyball games, and watched hours of her favorite Murder She Wrote tv show. She made us laugh with her sense of humor and her tricky ways of avoiding anything she didn’t want to do from the various nursing staff that took care of her. One of the last things she said was, ‘I’m going to start exercising on Monday.’ Well, she did just that as she met the Lord on Monday morning. She had a full life of love and good memories. The family would like to thank the many friends, family, and nursing staff that have come alongside us during the last six months. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Langer-Heltzel (David), her sons, Scott Langer (Heather) and Aaron Langer, her grandchildren, Jory Langer, Ashlynn Langer, Garrett Langer, Lexi Hassett, Halle Hassett, Anna Heltzel, Emily Heltzel, and Layton Langer her sisters, Joyce Webb Amerson and Colleen Webb, and her brother, William Webb (Venessa). She is also survived by extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Langer. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the compassionate staff at Compassus Hospice for their excellent care in these last few weeks. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Floyd in Floyd, Arkansas with Brother Rodney Westmoreland officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Floyd in Floyd, Arkansas. Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery in McRae, Arkansas. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home – Searcy.
