Linda Jane Davis

Linda Jane Wilson Davis, of Bald Knob, passed away on July 26th, 2026 at Woodruff County Health Center in McCrory, Arkansas. She was born in Grays, Arkansas on March 10th, 1940 to Bertha Elam. She is survived by her son, Billy Carl Davis, Jr. (B. C.) of Bald Knob, her daughter Sylvia (Sibby) and her husband, Mike Cleveland of Searcy, Christy Cloyes and her husband Anthony of Searcy. She is also survived by the loves of her life, her grandchildren and their spouses, Hannah Ellis and her husband Nathan of Searcy, Seth Cleveland and his wife Madeleine of San Marcos, Texas, Matt Cleveland and his wife Kim, of Searcy, Will Cleveland and his wife Amber Quick of Austin, Texas and Shea Cleveland of Searcy. 4 great grandchildren, Allison, Dylan, and Ellie Cleveland of Searcy and Nora Cleveland of San Marcos, TX. Also survived by 1 brother, Jerry Wilson of Mountain Home, AR, her best friend for the past 82 years, Judy Kissinger of Bald Knob. Also surviving her are her special sisters in law Kaye Morrison of Bald Knob, Betty Mayfield of Russell, AR, Peggy Wilson of Searcy and a host of nieces and nephews whom she adored, and loved so much. She was proceeded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Billy Carl Davis, Sr. Brothers J. C. Weaver, Donald Elam, Roland Elam. Dicky Wilson, and Carroll Wilson and her sisters Pat Kinsey, Imogene Jackson, Maxine King and a precious nephew Jason Wilson Beason, a precious niece Kelly Ann Davis, special friend Jean Shaffer and special sisters in law, Ann Carpenter of Bald Knob and Kathleen Elam of Augusta. As a child, she became a Christian and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Augusta. She loved to tell stories of going to Mrs. Iris Gregory’s for Bible lessons and was a proud GA, attending GA camp in Ferndale. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Bald Knob, enjoyed sitting in her same spot with another special sister in law Bobbie Carol Davis and good friend, Mary O’Dell. She loved working in the kitchen during VBS, and contributing such good food to church potlucks. She was known as a great cook, especially her beans and cornbread. While growing up in Augusta, AR, she spent lots of time with her brothers with whom she had an especially close relationship. She learned to play basketball and would throw a basketball whenever she saw a goal to shoot it in always hitting the goal. She loved playing “Aggravation” with Seth and Hannah making them work for the win while teaching them how to drink coffee. Linda Jane was a voracious reader and a crossword puzzle whiz, and her favorite, jumble word puzzles. She could grow anything and had a yard full of flowers and trees and gave everyone who visited a tour of her “memory yard”. She loved taking trips to Branson with Hannah and Seth and their moms, where she would skunk everyone in miniature golf. If you knew her, you know she was very hyperactive. It served her well as she cleaned houses for years. Not many people can say their mom painted the outside of their house single handedly not once but twice. She took it in stride when she was referred to as “Old Lady” by her daughters quite often, especially in stores, where they really got some really odd looks from other shoppers. She loved the Arkansas Razorbacks, never missing listening to or watching a basketball or football game. Having grown up in Augusta, AR, she remained a fan of the Augusta Red Devils where her brother coached for years. You never left her house without her asking “is there a game on tonight?” Her famous fudge, a favorite of her nieces and nephews, has never been replicated and she would mail it all over the place to them. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. There will never be another LJ, Linda Jane, Aunt Jane, Aunt Linda, Mamaw, Mamaw Jane, Mother Davis, Old Lady, or Mom like her. She was one of a kind and she was loved by all who knew her. A heavenly reunion with those who have gone before her is taking place and we know she is happy, whole and healed. The children would like to thank the great nurses and CNA’s and staff at Woodruff County Health Center for the great care she received from very minute she arrived until Jesus took her home. There will be a memorial service on August 15th, 2:00 o’clock at First Baptist Church, Bald Knob in the sanctuary. Visitation will begin at 1:00 preceding the service.
