Lonnie Lewis Blackmon

Lonnie Lewis Blackmon was born on December 15, 1959, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Luther James Blackmon and Maggie Lee (Blake) Blackmon. Lonnie was the eighth of nine children. In 1962, the family moved from Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Judsonia, Arkansas. Lonnie grew up in Judsonia and attended Judsonia School, where he graduated in 1979. While in high school, Lonnie developed a love for basketball and played throughout his years there. Lonnie had a special friend, Jackie Stevens, whose father employed him during the summer breaks, during this time, Lonnie learned to love carpentry. Lonnie could paint, build decks, and remodel bathrooms. After high school, Lonnie attended college at University of Central Arkansas in Conway and Phillips College in Helena/West Helena, Arkansas. Lonnie was excellent with numbers and applied this skill as a loan officer in the 90s. Lonnie was an exceptional Dad. He made it a priority to be involved in his children’s lives. He never missed an opportunity to see them play soccer, basketball, swimming, and always supported their educational developments and achievements. Loni Noelle was proud of her dad. Lonnie’s priority was making sure his children were doing well in life. He was very proud of Desmond, Vanessa, and Loni Noelle. After 20 years of service, Lonnie retired from the United States Postal Service in Minnesota. Lonnie moved back to Arkansas in January of 2020. Lonnie’s Father, Mother, brother Marvin, and Sister, Linda preceded him in death. Surviving the cherish his memory and carry on his legacy is one son, Desmond Calloway (Melanie) of San Diego, California, daughters, Vanessa Glass (Eric) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Loni Noelle Proctor (Ronald) of Memphis, Tennessee. Brothers, Albert Blackmon (Denoris) of Smyrna, Tennessee, Lawrence Blackmon Sr. (Marilyn) and Roy Blackmon Sr. (Martha) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Hermon Blackmon (Cammi) of Beebe, Arkansas, sisters, Dorsie Jackson (Curtis Sr.) of Judsonia, Arkansas, Sharon Flowers (Donnell Jr.) of North Little Rock, Arkansas and his precious grandchildren, Naneea, Moise, Jett, Major, Lillie, Layla, and Leah. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
