Marilyn Marie Fly

Marilyn Marie Poyner Fly, 82, died Wednesday, September 18 in Searcy, Arkansas. She was born November 8, 1930 in Berkley, California to John Ashley Poynor and Laura Johnston Poynor. She lived most of her life in California, where she was a faithful member of the Richmond Church of Christ, where she was baptized into Christ by Robert R. Price. She also worshipped in Concord, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, Rescue & Modesto as the family lived in those locations. She married William A. Fly, Jr. in Richmond on August 12, 1947. They were married 56 and one half years when Bill died. She was retired from Contra Costa County Public Health Nursing Department, Martinez, California. She was an active member of West Side Church of Christ, Searcy. Surviving are son James E. Fly and his wife Carol of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Kathleen Fly Fuller and her husband Andrew of Fairfax, Virginia; daughter Nancy Fly Baldwin and her husband Mike of Amherst, New York; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, Jennifer Fly Nutt and husband Steven, children Derek, Avery and Callan of Dawsonville, Georgia; Jonathan Fly and wife Caroline, daughter Lydia of San Pedro, California; Wendy Fuller Stetzinger and husband Andy, children Daniel and Emily, of Orlando, Florida; Jason Fuller and wife Carla, daughter Sophia, of Searcy; David Fuller and wife Laura, children Anastasia and Elizabeth of Woodridge, Virginia; Nicole Posey Cheslick and husband Scott, daughter Lily, of Clifton Park, New York, and Chad Posey, Clifton Park , New York; three step-grandsons, Ross, Scott and Andrew Baldwin and their families in New York and Virginia. Also surviving are her sister, Martha Poyner Hodges of Searcy; a sister-in-law, Tommie Jo Fly Walker and her husband Lionel of Edmond, Oklahoma; a brother-in-law, Jim Fly and wife Betty of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Other survivors include cousin/stepsisters and stepbrother LaVern Crowson Beach and husband Venton, Tullahoma, Tennessee; Marilee Crowson Coker and husband Bob; and Marvin Crowson and wife Judith, all of Searcy. Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, William A. Fly, Jr; her parents; sisters, Margie Poynor Blythe Rohr and Mildren Poynor Bowman, and their husbands Keith and Eldon, and brother-in-law Bill Hodges, and her aunt/stepmother, Eva Crowson Poynor.
