Michael Harold Johnson

Michael Harold Johnson, 72, of Judsonia, Arkansas departed this life on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his home. He was born June 29, 1951 in Quantico, Virginia to the late Harold and Kathrine Johnson. He met the love of his life, MaryAnn Brown Johnson, November 12, 1977 and they married years later April 12, 1985. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He retired at the rank of Sergeant from the Prince William County Police Department in Woodbridge, Virginia after 12 years of service. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant then he switched over to the administrative side as president of the organization until his retirement after 20 plus years. Michael had a bachelor’s degree in computer science. He was an expert in computer programing as well as a private contractor and project manager for the Army. He was an avid sports fan and commissioner of the Family Matters Fantasy Football Team. In his retirement Michael enjoyed researching his family’s genealogy, woodworking, and spending time in his vegetable garden. Michael put his heart into building his home by hand, the main construction was done in 2008. He added the lake side room, master suite, and wild room by 2011. He then built a shop which was completed in 2013 and in 2015 a greenhouse was added to the shop. Durning the time of building his home, the 15 acres of land was landscaped by his wife. He enjoyed being home watching the wildlife that surrounded his lake and bridges to two islands. He particularly liked to watch the birds and deer. He read daily often reading the news, politics, sports entertainment, and novels. Above all, Michael loved his family and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, MaryAnn Johnson, children, Amanda Fisher, Jeffrey Johnson, Becky (Adam) McNeil, Tony Hale, and Nathan Hale, grandchildren, Davis Barnes, Kyle Barnes, Bradley Johnson, Kelsie Stanley, Isaac Stanley, Ashley (Andrew) Hale, and Liam Hale, great grandchild, Milo Grey Hale, sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Patrica Patton, and Mary Kay (Gary) Bills, sister-in-law, Connie (Kevin) Miller. He is also survived by a host of extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life will be conducted on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob, Arkansas. Family and friends may visit prior to services beginning at 3:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home Bald Knob – Judsonia.
