Michael Scott Milligan

Michael Scott “Mike” Milligan from Searcy, AR passed away July 9, 2023. Mike was born in Little Rock, AR July 19, 1964 to Malcolm “Buddy” Milligan and Anne Darby Milligan Kocinski. He graduated Mills High School in 1982. He later moved to Searcy, AR where he built his life and raised his children. He was Co-Owner of Truman Baker Chevrolet and Dodge and owned several other businesses throughout his lifetime. Prior to retirement, he worked for the City of Searcy. He was active in the Searcy community and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Searcy. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. From a young age, he loved spending time on the family farm. Mike got his pilot’s license as a young adult and enjoyed co-piloting with his best friend. He owned several racehorses and enjoyed spending time in Hot Springs at Oaklawn or on Lake Hamilton. Mike’s true passion was working with Samaritan’s Purse working with both their US Disaster Relief and International Crisis Response. His favorite time with the organization was rebuilding in Man O’ War Cay, Bahamas after the 2019 hurricane. He became a beloved adopted member of the community there. His time in the Bahamas and with Samaritan’s Purse filled him with peace, love and joy. He is survived by his children Katie Milligan, Reed Milligan, Marshall Milligan and James Wade; his siblings, Shawn Bass (Leigh), Maggie Milligan (Jeff Brooks) and Sarah Milligan; His family Jim Tarkington (Kim), Jeff Tarkington and Terri Milligan. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a special great niece, Thea Milligan and many cousins and friends who he loved so much. He also leaves behind his special caregiver and friend, Dawn Coffman. A celebration of life will be held at First Methodist Church in Searcy, Arkansas on Thursday, July 13th at 2pm. Friends and family may visit beginning at 1:15 pm until service time.
