Mirlan Root

Mirlan Root (86) went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, October 31, 2022 at his home in Bradford, Arkansas. He was born August 31, 1936 in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas; the son of the late Aaron J. and Minnie M. Root. Mirlan, a.k.a. "Sparky" was a devoted member of the Lighthouse Church in Magness,AR. He enjoyed playing his guitar especially in church worship. All his life, Mirlan was a hardworking cattle rancher; his cows and his homestead were his true happiness. He married the love of his life, Lois Root on November 1, 2010. He enjoyed duck hunting, deer hunting, coon hunting, and fishing. He loved his blue healers Buck and Rusty. He also enjoyed visiting with all his friends and family, telling stories about things he experienced throughout his lifetime and about his family history growing up on the root family cattle ranch and homestead. Mirlan never met a stranger and when he smiled it lit up the entire world and brightened everyone’s life around him. He blessed every person who ever came in contact with him and he always made them feel like they were family. He was definitely a man with a heart that was filled with Gods love and kindness and he never failed to show it to everyone. If only the world had more men like Marlin, what a wonderful world it would be. Sweet Marlin always know that you were one of a kind. In life, we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place, no one else will ever fill. Forever in our hearts and we'll all see you again in heaven. We love you Mirlan Root. Mr. Root is survived by, his wife; Lois B. Root of their home; his son Marty Fry of Bradford, AR, and his 2 Sons Marcus (Hope) Fry of Bradford, AR., Kenny(Joy) Fry of Lonoke, Ar; his step children and grandchildren; Scott(Vicky) Stayton of Elkins, AR and Daughter Candace Stayton; Paula(Scott) Kash of Ohio, and Elizabeth(Tony) Zamberlan of Texas, and 2 daughters Maddison(Jake) Dean, Audrey Carpenter, and 1 son Noah Carpenter. six great grandchildren and his 2 nephews Verlis(Diane) Smith of McCrory, AR. and Alton Marlar of Sheridan, Ar. He was preceded in death by his parents; Aaron J. and Minnie M. Root, his siblings; Belva Root Smith, Orville Root, Calton Root, Verlin Root, Jewel Marlar, and Glenda Johnson. The Root Family would like to say a special thank you to Marlins caregivers, Rita Adams and Cathy Scudder, who loved and cared for very a special person whom we are very grateful. They spent every waking moment day and night to make sure Marlin was taken care of and stayed by his side no matter what was going on in their own lives, until the moment he left this world to enter his eternal home. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home. Interment will follow services at the Lewis Cemetery in Hickory Ridge, AR.
