Nettie Lee Henderson

Nettie Lee (Gibson) Henderson, age 96, of Bald Knob, formerly of Denmark, passed away May 26, 2008 at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, Arkansas. She was born March 12, 1912 in Denmark, Arkansas to the late J.O. and Nora Hickman Gibson, Sr. "Nannie" was a homemaker and a member of Independence Baptist Church. She was a devoted Republican and volunteered as a poll watcher. Her dedication to the Republican Party was a very important part of her life. She loved to fish, work in her flower garden and enjoyed traveling around the country with family, friends, and tour groups. She is survived by a sister, Mildred Gibson of Denmark; four daughters, Bobetta Poole (Billy) of Conway, Barbara Smith (Maynard) of Bryant, Brenda Mealer (Larry) of Redfield, Glenda McCready (Jerry) of North Little Rock; an ex-son-in-law, Jimmy Jones of Russellville; 12 grandchildren, Windell Poole (Susie) of Maryville, Tennessee, Andrea Poole of Sherwood, Tim Poole of Conway, Marc Poole (Karen) of Vilonia, Milton Poole of Greenbrier, Jeffrey Smith (Pam) of Bryant, Robyn Dodson (Jon) of Hot Springs, Jim Jones of Cabot, Rony Jones (Sarah) of McCrory, Gabriel Jones of Redfield, J.J. McCready (Melissa) of Cabot, Andy McCready (Janette) of Jacksonville; one step grandchild, Shane Mealer (Tabitha) of Sheridan; 17 great-grandchildren, Holly and Houston Smith, Jeremiah, Nathan and Anna-Kate Dodson, Chapel, Peyton, Easton, Gabrielle and Casey Jones, Cody, Tyler and Sydney McCready, Alex, Cheyenne, Tristan and Talon Poole; two adopted great-grandchildren, Marie and Jason; three great-great-grandchildren, Austin, Alissa and Holly; five step-great-grandchildren, Corinda, Joey and Lucas, Kirsten and Hunter; one step-great-great-grandchild, Landon; nephews, Royce Wilson of Batesville, James and Donald Wilson of Bald Knob; nieces, Mary Louise Mate of Frederick, Maryland, Martha Mae Brown of Pocohontas; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Gabriel A. Henderson; an infant son, Gabriel A. Henderson, Jr.; parents, John O. Gibson, Sr. and Nora Lee Gibson; a brother, John Oce Gibson, Jr.; three sisters, Norine Wilson, Etoile Sims and Helen Gibson. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Thursday at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brad Roberts officiating.
