Nita Lorraine Cooper

Nita Lorraine Cooper, 76 of Bradford, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on May 24, 2026. She was born in St. Augustine, Florida on July 12, 1949, to William Henry Smith Sr. and Aleen Lilian (Manucy) Smith. Nita was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She treasured the time spent with her family and found great joy in making memories with those she loved most. Her home was always a place of comfort, laughter, and love. She loved her church family at Old Glaise Missionary Baptist Church and found strength and comfort in her faith. Some of her favorite moments were sitting on the bank watching her children fish, cooking meals for those she loved, visiting with family, and simply experiencing life alongside the people she cared about most. Nita was truly a mother to many. Throughout the years, she opened both her heart and her home to countless children, at times caring for as many as seventeen children in a single year. No one ever went hungry around Nita, she was all about children and making sure they were loved, cared for, and safe. Her nurturing spirit and selfless love impacted many lives. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed coloring and watching hummingbirds, finding joy in the simple beauty of life. She will be remembered for her warm heart, caring nature, unwavering faith, and the unconditional love she gave so freely to others. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Lisa Settle, Ray Cooper, Rodney Wayne Cooper; grandchildren, Ashley Easter (Robert), Jerimiah Settle, Joshua Settle, Amber Allison and Steven Allison; two great grandchildren, Hester and Eddie Easter; siblings, William “Billy” Smith Jr., Doris Darline Ventura (Travis); as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Nita was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Robert, Richard, James and Horace Faaborg, Lucille Trammel. Services will be conducted on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bradford.
