Rhonda Kay (Williams) Smith

On Monday, February 22, 2021, Rhonda Williams Smith, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, unexpectedly passed away. Rhonda was born on March 20, 1957 in Wynne, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Nolen and Thelma Williams and the sister of the late Nola DeStephen. Rhonda’s family and friends will miss her more than words can express. In 1974 Rhonda married her high school sweetheart, Sidney Smith. During their forty-seven years of marriage, they raised two children, Kim Bennett (Nathan) and Kevin Smith (Amber). Rhonda and Sidney lived in Jonesboro and then in Memphis while Sidney completed his Doctorate in Dentistry. After traveling throughout Arkansas searching for the ideal place to raise their children, they made the decision to join the close-knit community of Bald Knob where they became lovingly known as “Doc and Rhonda.” Rhonda was Doc’s forever partner in his dental office for thirty-eight years working as his office manager and dental assistant. This couple was truly a team. Doc and Rhonda loved serving their patients. Rhonda will eternally be remembered for her selflessness, humility, and generosity. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi, Bald Knob Booster Club, Bunco Club, Bald Knob Chamber of Commerce, Late Bloomers Garden Club, and the Foothills Lane of Lights Committee. Rhonda was a supporter of all things Bald Knob. She was first to volunteer for every need and event. Rhonda’s legacy of giving will never be forgotten in the community of Bald Knob. Rhonda will also be remembered for her love of shopping and her yard sale adventures even though she graciously gave away many of her fabulous finds to her friends and family. Crafting was also one of her passions as well as collecting blue dishes. Rhonda enjoyed the family boating outings at Greers Ferry Lake even though her family laughingly shares that Rhonda was afraid of water; nothing would have kept her from family time. Forever wearing a smile, Rhonda Smith will be remembered as a dear wife, mother, and friend. Rhonda’s true passion, however, was her grandchildren. Rhonda was “Nana” to her five grandchildren: Karlie Cochran, Keegan and Rylan Smith, and Camden and Kendal Bennett. Rhonda joyously immersed herself in all activities that involved her grandchildren--Mexican restaurant outings, athletic events, school activities, birthday celebrations, endless taxi trips, bus pickups, sunroof adventures, snowstorm shenanigans, and a multitude of more precious memories. Nana also continued Papa Doc’s legacy of providing endless packs of gum to her grandchildren. Rhonda Williams Smith will be remembered as a soulmate to her husband Doc; a loving mother to Kim, Kevin, and their spouses; a remarkable grandmother to Karlie, Keegan, Rylan, Camden, and Kendal; and a wonderful sister to Kathy Jones and her husband John. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob. The family would like to thank you for all the love that has been shown to them during this heartbreaking time.
