Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Simmons, born October 1, 1969, in Searcy, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at his home in McRae, Arkansas, with the love of his life by his side. For 23 wonderful years, Tommy shared a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion with his wife, Missy Simmons. Their marriage was built on friendship, loyalty, and a deep love that never wavered. Together, they created a life full of cherished memories, unwavering support, and a bond that will endure forever. Tommy was blessed with a large family whom he loved deeply. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Wilkins (Birdie); his step-sister, Alice Mumma (Brent); his stepbrothers, Steven Barnes (Kim) and John Barnes (Jammie); and his brother-in-law, Don Mason. Family meant everything to Tommy, and he treasured every moment spent with those he loved. To his nieces and nephews, Tommy was much more than an uncle—he was a friend, a source of laughter, and someone who always made them feel special and loved. He held a special place in the hearts of Dakota Mason (Morgan), Kim Simmons (Brian), Jessica Watson (Stephen), and Ashley Higgins (Michael). He was also a proud great-uncle to nine great-nieces and nephews. Though health challenges sometimes limited the time he could spend with family, there was never any question about how much Tommy loved them. He celebrated their accomplishments, shared in their joys, and carried each of them in his heart. One of the things that brought him great happiness in his final years was the anticipation of becoming a great-great-uncle. He looked forward to welcoming the newest additions to the family and spoke about them with excitement and pride. While he was not given the chance to spend time with either of them, there is comfort in knowing that his love and legacy will continue through future generations. Tommy spent more than 20 years working at the Walmart Distribution Center. He was a dedicated employee who took pride in his work and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. Even when faced with health struggles, Tommy met each day with determination and resilience. He looked forward to retirement and spending more time enjoying life with family and friends. Although he was not able to enjoy those years as fully as he had hoped, he never stopped fighting and always made the best of the time he was given. What people will remember most about Tommy was his kind heart and his love for others. He was the type of person who would help whenever he could, offer a listening ear when someone needed one, and bring a smile to those around him. He also loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting. But for Tommy, it wasn’t always about the hunt. Many times, he was just as content sitting quietly in the woods, taking in the beauty of nature and enjoying the peace and solitude it brought him. Those moments reflected the gentle, appreciative spirit that made him who he was. His love for family was evident in everything he did, and the memories he created with those he loved will be treasured forever. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Simmons and Patsy Simmons, as well as his stepmother, Sharon Simmons. While our hearts ache with the loss of Tommy, we find comfort in knowing that his life was filled with love and that his memory will live on in all who knew him. We will remember his laughter, his strength, his kindness, and the way he made people feel loved. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit remains in the stories we share, the lessons he taught us, and the love he leaves behind. At 56 years old, Tommy’s life touched countless people. His legacy is not measured in years, but in the love he gave, the relationships he built, and the lives he made better simply by being a part of them. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 12:00pm, at Family Life Church in Searcy. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery.
