William Carroll "Jeteye" Varnell

William Carroll “Jeteye” Varnell, 65, of Bald Knob, Arkansas passed away at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock on May 28, 2023. He was born on April 30, 1958, to the late Veston G. and Mable (Taylor) Varnell in Bald Knob, Arkansas. Losing both parents at a young age, Carroll lived with siblings who taught him the honesty and work ethic of their parents. As the siblings married, started families, and moved around on pipeline jobs, Carroll was welcomed into the home of his childhood best friend. Claude and Willie Jean Cantrell continued to instill integrity in the reckless teenager and insisted that Carroll learn a skill that could make him a living. Teaching Carroll to drive a tractor evolved into showing him how to drive a big rig and escalated to instructing him to operate heavy machinery. The young man soon could not only operate anything with an engine but also, he undoubtedly had a natural aptitude for it. He followed in the path of his siblings who helped start him in pipeline work. Carroll promoted quickly to boss on the jobs as all workers were drawn to his easygoing nature and unflappable demeanor. Owners asked for Carroll because of his unquestionable honesty and his unique ability to inspire others to work without conflict. Everyone who knew Carroll recognized his kindness, humility, and generosity. These fruits of the spirit became more and more apparent as he grew in his Christian walk for certainly there was no doubt about the salvation change that occurred, turning the rebelling party man into a man of God. Even after being the victim of what most would find unforgivable, Carroll fought to forgive, stating that he himself had received so much forgiveness. Carroll loved his family, and he accepted his precious wife’s family as his own. Most recently he was so proud of his grandson Logan for becoming a master electrician, his granddaughter Shelby for being such a wonderful mother to his little buddy Roland, and his daughter Regan for becoming the kind of woman her mother was. Carroll reached a place of peace and treasured conversations with his brother Dobber, working alongside Randy, and getting into shenanigans with his best friend Rick. He especially enjoyed swapping pranks and trying to get one over on Josh. Carroll “Jeteye” Varnell endured hardship that few experience, but through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, he was an overcomer. May the name of the Lord be praised! Jeteye was survived by his children, Regan Herrington (Kenny), Jacob Varnell; grandchildren, Logan and Shelby Fritts, Noah Varnell; great-grandchild, Roland Hernandez; brother, Dobber Varnell (Freddie); honorary brothers, Ricky Cantrell (Cherry), Randy Cantrell; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded by his wife, Pam Varnell; parents; sister, Bobbie Jean Pace; brothers, Leroy and Lonnie Varnell.
