Willie Mae Sullins

Willie Mae Sullins, 89, passed from this life peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024. She was born April 13, 1935 in Lost Corner, Arkansas to Warner Ervin and Myrtle Mae (Keith) White. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Meharg, the father of her children Eddie Meharg and Virginia Meharg Bennett. She also found love again with Luther Ellis and Marion Sullins, who also preceded her in death. Others that preceded her were 5 brothers, 3 sisters and a step-daughter, Peggy Wolfe. Willie is lovingly survived by her 2 children, Eddie (Glenda) Meharg and Virginia Bennett (fiancé Gary Melton); 3 step-children, Bud Meharg, Gerald Meharg and Linda Staggs; 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-great grandchild as well as a special niece, Sharon Wilmoth. To know her was to love her. A wonderful combination of warmth and kindness, laughter and love. She overlooked our faults, encouraged our dreams and praised our every success. She was the one who could always provide the wisdom and advice you needed at just the right time. When things were tough she would do what she did best: Be a mom or grandma and make things better. Willie was the gardener of the family. She canned what she grew and shared with anyone who sat at her table. She was the quilter. Hand stitched quilts were a favorite gift of many of her family members. Willie also had a love for fishing, yardsaling and finding a bargain at Goodwill. Her life wasn’t always easy but Willie was a woman of strength, endurance and strong faith. She loved her family but, more than that, she loved the Lord and thanked him often for her many blessings. Willie loved all who entered her life and made sure they all knew it. She will be missed dearly by all her family, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob with her son, Bro. Eddie Meharg, officiating. Visitation will precede the services, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Fredonia Cemetery.
