Bettye Ritchie Casey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bettye Ritchie Casey’s body died on June 16, but her soul lives. The daughter of Kathryn and Andy T. Ritchie, Jr., Bettye was born May 23, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents (1983 and 1988, respectively), a brother, Andy T. Ritchie, III (2022), and her beloved husband of nearly 57 years, Gerald Casey, in 2017. She is survived by her brother Edward C. Ritchie of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; her sister, Joan Ritchie Toepel of Salisbury, New Hampshire; three children—Brian of Atchison, Kansas; Laura (Bruce Finnie) of Bridgeville, Pennsylvania; Greta (Neil Floyd) of Gig Harbor, Washington; and seven grandchildren—Heather Finnie, Bailey Floyd, Rebecca Finnie, Jackson Floyd, Hannah Finnie, Ryan Finnie, and Jedd Casey. Foremost, Bettye was a Christian woman and a homemaker at heart. An accomplished pianist and singer with a bachelor's degree in music from Harding University, she taught piano in the home and taught music classes in a Christian school for several years. She and Gerald enjoyed traveling together to see sights, family, and friends. The daughter and wife of respected church leaders, she herself devoted much time and attention to the worship of God and to the scriptures. She taught women’s Bible classes at the Cedars Church of Christ (Wilmington, Delaware) and College Church of Christ (Searcy, Arkansas) through much of her adult life and was respected as a student and presenter. She was also deeply committed to a close-knit prayer group for more than a decade. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 22 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Powell Funeral Home, Searcy, Arkansas.
