Cody James McKay

Cody James McKay, 21, of Bradford, departed this life January 16, 2019. He was born December 22, 1997 in Batesville to Melinda and Michael Rhodes of Cave City and Steve McKay of Batesville. Cody married Destiny Montgomery on June 8, 2016 and together they had 2 children, Hunter James McKay (2yrs.old) and Octavia Love McKay (1yr.old). Cody was a loving husband, dad, and son. He loved all his brothers, cousins, aunts, and uncles. His greatest joy came from hunting, fishing, and cuddling with his wife and kids. Cody was a wonderful person to get to know. He was always doing things to make everyone laugh. He enjoyed making people smile and laugh. He was always calling to check on everyone to make sure they were ok. Cody loved eating biscuits and gravy and chocolate cake. He liked drawing things or writing letters and putting them in places that would bring joy to others. Cody loved the outdoors, especially going out to watch the deer, turkey, and other animals. Left to cherish Cody’s memory are his wife, Destiny (Montgomery) McKay and his children, Hunter James McKay (2yrs.old) and Octavia Love McKay (1yr.old) of Bradford; his parents, Melinda and Michael Rhodes of Cave City and Steve McKay of Batesville; three brothers, Skyler McKay of Redmon, Oregon, Mikey Rhoades of Cave City, and Bradin McKay of Batesville; grandparents, James and Connie Headley of Cave City, Martha and Gary Spencer of Judsonia, and David and Debbie McKay of Batesville; great-grandpa, Freddie Vanoven of Evening Shade; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Cody was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Melinda Vanoven and grandfather, Jeffery Montgomery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Mikey Rhodes, Austin Morris, Bobby Montgomery, Jeffery Montgomery, Mikey Cooper, and Christian Thockmorton. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter James McKay and Octavia Love McKay. Visitation will be held at Bradford Memorial Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 1:00-2:00 P.M. with services beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Chris Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Heard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to help cover funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated by the family and can be made directly to the funeral home.
