December 12, 1959 - August 14, 2021
Danny Lee Isom passed from this life on August 14, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, Poppa, son, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Danny was born on December 12, 1959 and was raised by Allan and Carole Isom of Searcy, Arkansas. He graduated from Harding Academy in 1978, and married Debbie Wheetley on September 26, 1981. Danny owned Isom’s Appliance Repair where he worked with Debbie for over 35 years. This allowed him to be in the home of strangers that became friends. His job was to repair the appliance, but his mission was to leave the person knowing Jesus more than when he walked in. Danny loved his family greatly and Debbie was his lifelong partner. His greatest blessings were his children and grand-children. He loved to “buddy” around with them while he taught them about God. Danny loved his hobbies. He had a love for music and played the drums early in his life. After high school, Danny developed a love for cars, especially fast ones. He spent many Friday nights drag racing at local racetracks. His ability to fix anything without instructions or a manual served him well during his racing career. Danny loved to play golf, but he also liked to teach others how to play the game. Fishing was always a big part of his life. He knew all the best fishing holes and had a freezer full of fish at the shop to prove it. Whether he was golfing or fishing, Danny would always invite others along so he could enjoy the sport and talk about Jesus. He was also known for hosting fish dinners at the shop where he cooked the best Crappie in Arkansas. Danny was preceded in death by his sister, Alana Isom Rose. He is survived by a large loving family. His wife Debbie Wheetley Isom of Searcy, Arkansas, son Eric (Cindy) Isom and grandchildren Emma, Sophie and Cooper of Collierville, Tennessee, and daughter Tara Rutledge grandchildren Rylie and Maci of Searcy, Arkansas and parents Allan and Carole Isom of Searcy, Arkansas. Siblings Susan (Ben) Henry of Hurst, Texas, Jeanne (Stephen) Burks of Searcy, Arkansas, James (Ethel) Thomas of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Linda (Charlie) Baughman of Pangburn, Arkansas, and Joetta Pippin of Paragould, Arkansas, along with many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be Saturday, August 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the College Church of Christ auditorium. At the family’s request, face masks are required. The service will be streamed on the Facebook page of College Church of Christ for those who are unable to attend or feel safer viewing online.
