Paula June Barber

December 28, 1946 - April 27, 2022

Paula June Barber, 75, of Velvet Ridge, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at her home. She was born December 28, 1946 in Pekin, Illinois a daughter of the late Paul Wilson Barnett and Ella Juanita (Kinney) Barnett. Paula was a long-time member of the Velvet Ridge Church of Christ where she enjoyed teaching children’s Bible class and making the church bulletins. She worked as a bookkeeper for Martin’s Truck Service and the Velvet Ridge Fire Department. Paula was a true “giver.” She loved people and serving others with a Christian heart. She enjoyed cooking, canning and sewing. She is survived by her husband of 50 plus years, Golden Barber; 3 children, Jay Barber of Searcy, Leah Barber of Searcy and Greg Barber (Rhi) of Conway; sister, Connie Barnett of Bald Knob; 3 grandchildren, Taylor Barber (Sofia) of Little Rock, Garrett Barber of Searcy and Addie Leigh Barber of Conway; 3 special men who were like sons to her, Matt Fletcher of Austin, Texas, Kenny Wood of Nashville, Tennessee and Roy Reeves of Dallas, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Frances Nell Weeks and Priscilla Epperson. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home. Services will be conducted on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Velvet Ridge Church of Christ with Dr. Jim Citty offering the eulogy and remarks.
