Rosetta Lockhart Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rosetta Lockhart, age 93, died on June 25, 2022. She suffered a stroke on June 19 and was at Arkansas Hospice in CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock at the time of her death. Rosetta was born in 1928 in McClelland, Arkansas to Thomas J. Vincent and Ethel (Smith) Vincent. She was preceded in death by both parents and brothers, Floyd, Boyd, Lloyd, Buel, Clyde, Howard, and Buster and sisters Sallie (Vincent) Dollar and Viola Vincent (better known as Tean). Rosetta married Gaither Lockhart, Jr., in 1946, and he preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children Steve (Janie) Lockhart of Texas, Stan (Betty) Lockhart of Arkansas, and Sherry (Russ) Frye of Ohio; grandchildren Stephanie (James) Shepherd of Kansas, Jennifer (Steven) Guana of New Mexico, Kelly (Jeff Breitenfeldt) Lockhart of Massachusetts, Nikki (Mateo Samper) Lockhart of Washington, DC, Lee (Clay) Morton of Arkansas, Anne Lockhart of Arkansas, Kathy (Todd Jackson) Frye of Ohio and Michael Frye of Ohio; great grandchildren JJ Bacon (Katie) of California, Tori (Vincent) Velez of Kansas, Brandon (Paisley) Redd of Kansas, Sofia Redd of New Mexico, Io Breitenfeldt of Masschusetts, D.L. Morton, Roe Morton, Libby Morton, Will Morton, and Grace Morton all of Arkansas, Jemma Frye-Jackson and Ruby Frye-Jackson of Ohio; and one great-great grandchild, Eleanor Bacon of California. Rosetta was Postmaster of the Gregory Post Office for 43 years, retiring in 2000. She belonged to her beloved Gregory Baptist in Gregory Arkansas. She delighted the readers of Gregory Gleanings for over 60 years. Rosetta was instrumental in getting "city water" to Gregory and the outlying areas. She was elected to serve as Justice of Peace and served for two years. For many, many years, she coordinated the Gregory community Christmas Eve celebration. At various times she was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, American Cancer Society, Gregory Homemakers Club, Augusta Improvement Club, the "Going Group" of the McCrory Bank, and the Cotton Plant Hypsion Club. Steve, Stan, and Sherry are so grateful to the many people who showed their love for "Miss Rosie" in so many ways. They also are thankful for the excellent care she received at Arkansas Hospice. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Augusta, 700 N 9th Street in Augusta, Arkansas .
