Wesley Burns, “The Man – The Legend!!” Wesley had a sense of humor that was out of this world. If you were around him you were laughing; he found humor in everything! You could be in the worst moment of your life and he could make you laugh. He had a beautiful heart and there was not anyone he wouldn’t help. Wesley was one of those guys that would literally give you the shirt off his back and not expect anything in return. When I “Amanda” married Wesley, I thought he could walk on water….. but boy I found out quickly he COULD NOT! Because with that big ole heart and his kind and loving nature, Wesley had a demon that had a hold on him. He struggled with that demon every day of his short life here. With this struggle there were really good days, really bad days and sometimes some terribly bad days; but there was always one common denominator – LOVE. In that love we had two beautiful daughters; Elizabeth DeAnn Burns, who preceded him in death, and Sara Beth Burns. Let me tell you, he worshiped the ground Sara Beth walked on. She was his light and inspiration to stay clean. There was absolutely nothing he would not do for her. It was very impressive to see the love he had for her and how she melted his heart. Throughout our journey, Wesley helped take care of our nephews, Teddy and Dennis Shaw and our niece, Shelby Shaw. He took care of them as they were his own. Even down to my sister, better known as cabbage head by him; he helped her get out of every bad marriage she got herself in. Even after Wesley and I divorced, there was never anything he wouldn’t do for me and Sara Beth. He was always there – he was our rock. He was a man that took care of his family, even when he didn’t have to and it was because of that common denominator…. LOVE! We loved Wesley through it all. We loved him through his addiction but we didn’t love the addiction. Wesley lost his family over his addiction but we still stood by him through his struggles. He enrolled in Life in Victory for men at Bald Knob and they helped him find himself again; it was like a switch had been flipped. We will forever be grateful for the opportunity to see him back at himself for that time. Through the years, he had so many brushes with death that we thought he would out live us all. God had different plans however. Wesley’s life and struggles ended April 28, 2021 in a tragic accident. He leaves behind a devastated family. He is survived by the love of his life, Amanda Burns; his very own angel on earth, Sara Beth Burns; his dad, Bill Burns along with many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by the angel that he now walks in heaven with, Elizabeth DeAnn Burns as well as his mother and grandparents. We ask that if you are struggling with an addiction, PLEASE GET HELP! A celebration of Wesley’s life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob with Shane Baker officiating. At the conclusion of the service, you are encouraged to pick up a pizza roll and some cherry Kool-Aid that will be provided; that was Wesley’s favorites!! Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob – Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
