Amos Lee Gene Lester

Amos Lee Gene Lester of Rose Bud met his Heavenly Father at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 86 years of age. He was born on June 20, 1938 in Rose Bud to the late Amos and Theda (Owen) Lester. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Charlotte (Forbus) Lester and they shared 53 wonderful years together before her passing in 2015. He graduated from Rose Bud High School and excelled in all sports. Lee Gene was a light for the Lord in many ways, but he was most known for his contagious laughter and his limitless love. He was a member of St. Mary’s Nondenominational Church in Rose Bud. Anyone close to him knew they would be on the receiving end of a new joke or an interesting story when they saw him. No matter what, you always left your time with Lee Gene with a smile on your face. Everyone would agree that he was an irreplaceable member of the community. In his youth, he worked in construction for many years and was a devoted cattle farmer. He proudly served our country as a member of the Army Reserves. He loved team roping and hunting in his spare time and passed his passion down to the generations after him. He is preceded in death by his beloved bride Charlotte Lester, his parents, and his two sisters and brothers-in-laws, Floeace (Dudley) Smith and Sissie (Bill) Prothro. He is survived by his two brothers, Bobby G. Lester (Laura Beth) of Jacksonville and Garry Don Lester of Rose Bud. He is survived by his two children, a son, Terry Lester of Rose Bud and a daughter, Charla Bradley of Rose Bud. The most cherished title he held was being called Papaw by his three grandchildren; Kristen (Noah) Chandler, Allison (Ryan) Blackwell, and Blake Bradley; and six great-grandchildren; Corbin Chandler, Elle Chandler, Isla Chandler, Olivia Blackwell, Chayse Blackwell, and Brynlee Blackwell. In addition, he is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lee Gene’s name can be made to the St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund, 3000 Rose Bud Road, Quitman, AR 72131. Funeral services celebrating Lee Gene's life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Rose Bud with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
