Charlene Witcher Lackie

Charlene Witcher Lackie, 85, of Searcy, Arkansas departed this life on November 26,2025 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 30, 1940 in Cabot, Arkansas to the late Loyce and Zadie Witcher. Charlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was marked by love, faith, and dedication to her family. She was a member of the class of 1958 of Vilonia High School. She married the love of her life, Coy Dean Lackie, on March 19, 1960, and together they built a life grounded in hard work and commitment. After marrying, they lived in Pine Bluff, Arkansas until job opportunities brought them to Searcy, Arkansas in 1964. In 1977, they founded Coy Lackie Construction, which they proudly owned and operated side by side for many years. Charlene was also a wonderful homemaker and exceptional cook, known for the warmth and care she poured into every meal. Charlene was a longtime and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Searcy, Arkansas. In retirement, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family and cherishing moments with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and church community. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Coy Dean Lackie of the home, her daughter, Christi Gaither (Kyle) of Batesville, Arkansas, her grandchildren, Rebecca Gaither of Conway, Arkansas, Adam Gaither of Batesville, Arkansas, Daniel Lackie of Nashville, Tennessee, Caleb Lackie of Springfield, Missouri, Clara Baker (Brett) of Searcy, Arkansas, and Calvin Lackie of Searcy, Arkansas, her great granddaughter, Loretta Josephine Baker of Searcy, Arkansas, and her brother, Troy Witcher. She is also survived by a host of extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Craig Lackie. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Searcy, Arkansas with Dr. Brian Whitney officiating. Visitation will be held prior to services beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow services at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Searcy, Arkansas. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Daniel Lackie, Caleb Lackie, Calvin Lackie, Adam Gaither, Kyle Gaither, and Brett Baker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Ministry or the WMU (Woman’s Missionary Union) at First Baptist Church of Searcy.
