Danny Wayne Knight

Surrounded by those he loved most, Danny Wayne Knight peacefully passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and love. Born on August 6, 1963, in Newport, Arkansas, to Billy Joe Knight and Louise (Foster-Nicholson) Knight, Danny lived a life defined by compassion, humility, and selfless service. Throughout his life, he was known as a man whose servant's heart touched countless lives. Whether he was caring for patients, responding to emergencies, serving his church and community, or simply lending a helping hand to a neighbor, his love for others was evident in everything he did. He never sought recognition for his kindness; he simply believed that serving others was the right thing to do. Danny faithfully worked at Walmart Distribution for twenty-four years before answering a new calling and becoming a nurse. Caring for others came naturally to him, and he considered it a privilege to help those in need. His desire to serve extended far beyond his profession. For twenty years, he proudly served as a member of the Bradford Fire Department, a brotherhood that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He also dedicated fifteen years of service to the Bradford School Board, always striving to make his community a better place for future generations. A faithful Christian, Danny was an active member of Independence Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains, where he faithfully served the Lord he loved. His faith guided every aspect of his life and shaped the compassion, generosity, and humility for which he will always be remembered. Outside of his work and service, Danny found great joy in hunting and fishing. He loved sharing stories, joking with family and friends, and was always ready to pick on someone with his playful sense of humor. His laughter was contagious, and his ability to make others smile was one of his greatest gifts. Above all, Danny loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Samantha Knight and a proud father to his daughter, Brittany Watkins and husband Jessie of Judsonia, Arkansas, and his son, Tyler Knight and wife Sarah of Bradford, Arkansas. His greatest pride and deepest joy were his grandchildren, Emalyn Watkins, Caleb Watkins, Melody Knight, and Kohen Knight. He adored each of them beyond measure and never missed an opportunity to attend their games, programs, and special events. Being their "Poppy" was one of life's greatest blessings. Danny is also survived by his aunt, Ruby Knight Turner; his uncle, Ernest Knight; along with numerous extended family members, dear friends, fellow firefighters, church family, and community members whose lives were forever blessed by his kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe Knight and Louise (Foster-Nicholson) Knight. Danny's life was a beautiful example of selfless service, unwavering faith, and unconditional love. He loved his family, treasured his church, was devoted to the Bradford Fire Department, and cared deeply for his community. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his compassion, generosity, and willingness to serve. Though he will be deeply missed, those who know him are grateful for the example he set and the love he freely gave. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Sexton, Dennis Whitener, Donald Swiney, Nick Bright, Cody Metcalf, and Wesley Burruss. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Shaw, members of the Bradford Fire Department, Royce Turner, Jimmie Turner, Steve Treece and Terry Pitts. Visitation will be held Monday, July 13, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Bradford. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Independence Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains with Bro. Wesley Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery in Thida, Arkansas.
