Darrin Wayne Reed

Darrin Wayne Reed, 54, of Shoffner passed from this life April 10, 2022 at his home. He was born in San Jose, California January 1, 1968 to Larry and the late Helen (McGhee) Reed. His preceded in death by his mother, Helen (McGhee) Reed; and a son, Steven W. Reed. He is survived by his wife, Stacy (Selvidge) Reed of the home; a son, Justin Reed and wife Dusty; one grandson, Matthew Reed; his father, Larry Reed; Kevin Reed, Shandra Cathey, Carrie Cook; and a granddaughter, Madalynn; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Darrin was a husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, son, brother, and the list goes on. Those are a lot of shoes to fill but he aced it. Darrin’s love for his family was evident in the way his face would light up with a smile when they would visit. He was a hard worker. He was a welder, boilermaker, and he and Stacy travelled for many years working shutdowns. Darrin and Stacy were able to see much of the world together and like most married couples, they had their ups and downs, but they stuck together through all of it. It could be said that he was a rebel of sorts or possibly that he just lived his life the way he wanted, to the fullest. Darrin was an outdoorsman. He loved his shop and could tinker for hours and listen to music. His grandson, Matthew, loved to go to his shop and visit him. Darrin enjoyed hunting and riding around on the backroads. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family sitting around a bon fire. He was a giver with a big heart and he had a good sense of humor. He spent time telling Matthew stories about his time in California to ensure Matthew would have those memories to bring him comfort along the way. Darrin and his son, Justin butted heads because they both wanted to be right, but they loved each other, and their bond grew stronger in the past several months as Justin took his dad to treatments. Darrin loved his daughter in law, Dusty as if she were his own daughter. He could call her and she would take him for a milk shake or food. Darrin fought hard to beat cancer and not let is beat him. His pain was unbearable in the past few weeks but to look at him you couldn’t tell. Even as painful as the cancer was, it didn’t come close to the pain Darrin and Stacy felt when they lost their youngest son, Steven. Rest in peace Darrin. You will be missed and loved by so many. Go rest high on that mountain and hug Steven. No more pain, peace at last! Visitation is 6-8pm Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Bradford Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service is 2 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Coffeyville Cemetery, Bradford, Arkansas.
