Ester Scritchfield

Ester Lee Scritchfield, 92, of Bradford, our beloved mother and grandmother, left us on November 9, 2010 to be with our heavenly Father where we will see her again someday. We will miss her more than words can say. She was our inspiration and our rock. Ester was born December 22, 1917 in Griffithville, Arkansas to the late Bratten and Audie Caldwell. She was a member of the Bradford Baptist Church where she enjoyed working in AWANA, bible school, women's auxillary and teaching Sunday school. She was also a member of Extension Homemakers Club. She was a homemaker, library assistant and Avon representative where she won President's Club. She loved gardening, reading, sewing, quilting and travel. More than all that, she cherished her family and her God. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Orval Scritchfield. She is survived by a sister, Margaret (Gussie) Matthews of Vinton, LA. and a brother, Headlee Caldwell of Benton, Ar. 5 daughters, Velma Smith of Judsonia, Judy Thomason (Dwayne) of Bradford, Ruby Stewart of Searcy, Vicky Crittenden (Bill) of Lexington, Mass. and Mary Dooley (Jim) Russellville; 3 sons, O.D. Scritchfield (Teresa) of Bald Knob, Johnny Scritchfield of Bradford and James Scritchfield of Bradford; 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-granddaughters. She will be remembered by her friends at Searcy Healthcare for her beautiful smile. We appreciate the loving care she was given at Searcy Healthcare. Special thanks to Benji who did all those extra things to make her feel like a "princess." Special thanks to Dr. Holston and Jennifer for many years of loving care, also to White County Medical Center for excellent care given to her on multiple occasions. Visitation will be Sunday, November 14, 2010 from 4 - 6 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob. Services will be held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bradford Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Heard Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. Memorials are requested to the Bradford Baptist Church or the Lyon College Annual Fund 2300 Highland Rd.
