Jerry Lynn Gardner

Jerry Lynn Gardner, 72, of Searcy, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025. She was born on April 11, 1953, in Mendenhall, Mississippi, to the late L.V. Gardner and Minnie Gardner (Griffin). She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member at Bethlehem Baptist Church for many years. Jerry graduated from Searcy High School. She was employed in sales at Sears and Roebuck for over 20 years until the company closed. She later joined the human resources department at Walmart Distribution Center for 25 years, retiring when her health declined. Jerry enjoyed many hobbies, including shopping, working word finds, solving crossword puzzles, savoring good food, listening to music, spending time with her family, and watching western movies. She was a self-proclaimed “shopaholic” and a giver at heart—shopping not only for herself but also to bless others. Earlier in life, she was faithful in her community, often checking on the elderly and helping anyone in need. She loved all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and was known for her funny sense of humor and her ability to always speak her mind. Jerry’s favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV): “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” She is survived by her siblings: Minnie Johnson (Joe) of Fort Worth, Texas; Willie Jean Gardner of Searcy, Arkansas; Maxine Levels (Marvin) of Fort Worth, Texas; Bobbie Gardner of Searcy, Arkansas; Ernestine Tyler of Dallas, Texas; Beverly Williams (Wallace) of Mesquite, Texas; Butch Gardner (Sheila) of Searcy, Arkansas; Charles Gardner (Melissa) of Searcy, Arkansas; Dwayne Gardner (Felecia) of Palestine, Texas; and Paula Gardner of Little Rock, Arkansas, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family members that will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Larry Gardner, Sr; brother-in-law, Joe Johnson, and brother-in-law, Marvin Levels. Jerry’s generous heart and sense of humor left a lasting imprint on everyone she met. She will be missed deeply and remembered with love and laughter. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:00pm, at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 1:00pm.
