Marcia Nell Sanders

Marcia Nell Sanders, 88, of Little Rock, Arkansas, took her last breath on February 14, 2026 in this life and entered into the glorious presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. She was at her home sleeping peacefully as her daughter, Lisa, and faithful friend, Jamie were caring for her. Marcia was born September 29, 1937 in Augusta, Arkansas to the late Herman and Doris Sawyer. Marcia was a woman of unwavering faith, dedication, and generosity. She faithfully worked in payroll for 35 years at General Electric without missing a single day, a true reflection of her strong work ethic and commitment. A devoted member of the Assembly of God church, she loved singing gospel music and sharing her faith through both prison and nursing home ministries. Affectionately known as “the Candy Lady,” Marcia brought joy each Sunday by handing out sweets and warm smiles to everyone she met. She had a creative spirit and owned a ceramics store, Ceramic Village, where she lovingly crafted and sold her artwork. Her compassionate heart also led her to make fumble aprons for dementia patients, offering comfort and purpose through her handmade creations. Marcia’s life was a beautiful testimony of service, creativity, and love. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lisa Sanders, Pam Sanders, and Liz Silvestri, her grandchildren, Nathan Herrington, Jacob Herrington, Eli Herrington, Gabriel Sanders, and Carrie Lee Halley, her great grandchildren, Isabella Herrington, Grady Herrington, and Atlas Halley and Sister-in-law, Dot Pitts. She is also survived by her sisters, Ann Speir (Conrad), Cydney Stovall Foster, her nieces, Carol Anne Cullum, Shelly Pinkston, Dana Bailey as well as a host of extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. “Don” Sanders, her son, Jeff Sanders, her son in law, Orlando Silvestri, and her sisters, Mona Shaw and Nancy Fetters. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Augusta, Arkansas with Brother Bob Minick officiating. Visitation will be held prior to services from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Augusta Memorial Park in Augusta, Arkansas. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Woodruff County. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to their beautiful best friends — Jamie Grimmett Turner, Tonya Alkire, Stacy Rice, and Paula Burgess. There are truly no words big enough to express what you have done for our mother and for our family. You stayed with her, cooked meals, helped with the physical work of caring for her, did laundry, and stepped in wherever you were needed without hesitation. You loved her, supported her, and treated her with such dignity through her illness. Most of all, you carried us through one of the hardest seasons of our lives. Your strength, compassion, and constant presence meant more than we can ever fully say. We will forever be grateful for each of you. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Hospice, their compassionate nurses, and the medical equipment team for the exceptional care and support you provided. Your kindness, professionalism, and gentle attention brought comfort not only to our loved one, but to our entire family. From medical care to equipment needs, every detail was handled with dignity and respect. We are deeply grateful for the guidance, patience, and compassion you showed during such a difficult time. Thank you for everything you did for us. From Lisa, with love and gratitude to my sisters—Liz for her medical expertise and Pam for her thoughtful input and advice. I truly have the best sisters anyone could ever have. Also, a special heartfelt thank you to Ann Speir for her unwavering support as we navigated through all of the challenges during this season. Lastly, and most importantly, we are grateful to our Lord Jesus for His grace and guidance every step of the way! Hebrews 4:16 "So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." (NLT) We are truly finding peace in the promise of His return. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 " For the Lord Himself will come down from Heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18. So encourage each other with these words." Thank you Jesus!!!
