Mary Frances Nick

Mary Frances Nick received her complete healing on Thursday, May 9, 2024. She no longer is in pain from arthritis and the insecurities that come with dementia. Frances was born on August 11, 1935 to Andy and Maudie Hughart in Greenwood, Arkansas. Frances met James Nick at a church youth summer camp soon after he joined the U.S. Air Force which resulted in them only seeing each other in person four times before they married on July 4, 1954. They were married until he passed away in 2008. After their time traveling with the Air Force, James and Frances managed Corp of Engineers Parks at Greers Ferry Lake for several years then managed Golden Pond RV Park in Shirley. They were foster parents to over forty foster children over a few years. Frances taught Children’s Church in almost every church they attended through the years. She delivered Meals on Wheels for two years where she dressed in full costume for every holiday to entertain her clients and later worked as a volunteer at Unity Health in Searcy. She worked at the Beebe Newspaper in Beebe, Arkansas for several years. Until arthritis affected her hands, she did calligraphy and loved to draw. Frances is survived by two daughters, Gwyn Reynolds of Judsonia and her husband Billy and Bernadette Cox-Moon and her husband Bobby of Velvet Ridge; brother, Rev. Bill Hughart and sister-in-law Patty; sister, Nancy Parsley of Searcy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Suzanne (David) Wilson, Lucas Cox (Magan), Katherine Moody and Michael Moody, Dian Moody, Michael Moon, Nathan Moon and Donny Walker-Moon; great-grandchildren, Trenton Cox, Aya Cox and Harmoney Glover, Eric Wilson, Sonny Wilson, Kaleb Moon, Samantha Moon, Lilly Moon and Calvin Moon; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Esther Hughart, Lorene Moran and Kay Goddard and two babies she never got to meet. Honoring her wishes, there will be a short graveside service on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Velvet Ridge Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice/Palliative Care in Searcy, especially her nurse Rhonda who she looked forward to every week, Hospice Chaplain Ched Carpenter, The Springs in Searcy and especially Kalee Sumpter who so caringly spent time with her and us. The entire staff there was amazing and did everything they could to make her comfortable and ease our anxiety.
