Melissa Brimer

Melissa Brimer, passed away July 12, 2022 at the age of 44. She was born Tuesday, December 20, 1977 to John Earl Brimer and Peggy (Glatt) Haynes. Melissa received most of her primary and secondary education at Searcy Public Schools, with short times off for bad behavior. She later completed her education with a Liberal Arts Associates degree at ASU Beebe where she earned membership in the Phi Kappa Phi honor society for her academic excellence. Melissa most recently worked at Rush Lawn Care as an Office Assistant. Outside of work, Melissa enjoyed spending time with her friends. Most have been friends since her teen years. In her spare time, Melissa loved watching movies and also helping others. She often cooked dishes for others, assisted in raising children, teaching younger people about finances and life issues. She was thoughtful and generous, and could be known to be the life of the party. She took great pleasure in being a loyal friend. Melissa was preceded in death by her father, John Brimer, brother, John Henry Belton Brimer; her paternal grandparents, Ruby Mae (Goodman) Tally, and Henry Brimer; her maternal grandparents, Mildred P. “Millie” (Ingalls) Singletary, [Jimmie Lee Singletary], and Lester John Glatt. She was also preceded in death by paternal aunts and uncles including Evelyn Incopero, Joyce Laverne Edwards, Gloria (Bobby) Brimer, Glen Willis, Virgil Wayne, Tillman Gene, and Van Mack; and one maternal uncle, Jesse Louis. She is survived by husband, Kevin Walker; three children, Kevin Surles, Rae-Anne Surles and Kanyon Surles; mother, Peggy Brimer Haynes; extended family which includes, Jenny Clark and her three children Brittney Jones, Laci Taylor, and Dylan Clark, Julee Pratt and her son, Ocean Pratt, Kathy Crosby, Teresa Crosby and children Breanna Crosby, Michael Meeuwsen, and Shurrie Spears, Devon and Larry Shipman and children, Jessy, Kendall, Kimberly, Keirra, Kalyopi Crosby-Shipman and Devin Barber, Diana Mohr, and Judy Epperson. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 2:00p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Searcy. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 12:00p.m. Interment will follow in the Holly Springs Cemetery in Searcy.
