Norma Jean Smith

Norma Jean Smith, age 85, received her heavenly reward on April 7, 2023, surrounded by her children and their spouses. She was born in Enterprise, WV to the late Clyde Willis and Daisy Pearl Griffin Bice. She was the youngest of 10 children, sisters, Lenora Pyles, Dorothy Hartley, Mary Ellen Harris, Joann Toothman, Betty Burnett, and Thelma Enoch; brothers, Lawrence Bice, Everett Bice, and Raymond Bice. She married Dan Leon Smith on July 9, 1955 in Summerville, Pennsylvania. Together they had 4 children. She served the Lord with her husband who was a minister in western Pennsylvania for 50 years, before retiring to Arkansas to be near family. They continued to minister to churches in Bradford and Judsonia after retirement. They were married for 58 years. She loved to cook for her family and spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Highway Church of Christ, where she enjoyed seeing friends and sitting with her family. She had been blessed for the past year as a resident at Harding Place retirement community. She made many friends and enjoyed the wonderful meals and fellowship. She had her favorite spot in the dining room! A special thanks to all of the staff at Harding Place and Southern Caregivers for their kindness and loving care. She was the last remaining sibling of her family. She was also predeceased by her husband and granddaughter, Amelia Mayhall Hiltz. She is survived by her children, daughter, Danna Mayhall (Brian), and sons, Steven Smith (Vicky), David Smith (Jodie) and Jeffrey Smith (Bridget). She was adored by her 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will take place at Highway Church of Christ on Monday, April 10th with a visitation at 1:00 and her service at 2:00. Her family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by Unity Health and Arkansas Hospice and for the love and support by many friends at this time.
