Robert "Bob" Gary Young

Robert “Bob” Gary Young of Searcy passed away at the age of 85 on August 10, 2025. He died peacefully at home with his children and loyal dog at his side. Bob was born June 25, 1940, to the late Marguerite and D.D. Young. Bob was born and raised in Searcy. Aside from his college years at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, followed by a brief time in Hot Springs early in his career, Bob made Searcy his home. For more than 45 years, he proudly managed the family tire business, which was started by his parents in 1938 as Young’s Easy Pay Tire. Along with his brother, he developed the business into Young’s Wholesale Tire Company, which became well-known for providing honest, family-style service to customers throughout White County. In 1998, Bob expanded the business into its third generation with his two sons, and Young’s Tire & Auto now operates multiple locations throughout central Arkansas. From an early age, Bob was a strong athlete and fierce competitor, participating in baseball and football throughout high school. He was part of Arkansas’ first sanctioned Little League baseball team in 1951. He was also an avid golfer and was one of the longest-standing members of Searcy Country Club, active in the golf and social community for 60 years. Bob valued his family above all else. He always prioritized time for vacations, sporting events, and traditional nightly dinners with his three children and his wife, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years. He is survived by his sons Robert G. Young, Jr. (Nancy), and Mark Gregory Young (Kim) of Searcy, and one daughter Marguerite “Mimi” Windemuller (Mike), of Morrison, CO; grandchildren Blakely Summers Williams (Hunter), Brayton Hunter Young, Madison Lane Graham (John), Marlee Elizabeth Young and Molly Marie Windemuller. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary LaNell Young and brother D. D. The family will host a visitation on Thursday, August 14, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home of Searcy, www.powellfuneralhome.net. A private memorial service will be held for the family.
