Rodney Keith Guthrie

Rodney Keith Guthrie, age 73, went to his heavenly home on July 11, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved him deeply. He was born on December 23, 1952 to Dalton and Oletta (Brown) Guthrie in Bradford AR. Rodney was one of a kind for sure - they don’t make many like him. He loved his family deeply. He loved and checked on his friends. He was known far and wide for his humor, jokes and telling stories. Kay knew a short trip to the Post Office would become two hour trip because he ran into someone to talk to or went by to check on someone. He so enjoyed his classmates and being involved planning dinners and reunions. He would spend hours on the deck calling them to be sure each one that could be reached was invited. He loved to help people. He talked to everyone he met, so he knew if they needed a little help - a single mother, someone that worked at a local store or a coworker that need a little extra cash or a car battery to get to work. He was always ready to help. He loved his brother and sisters. During one of his last days, he asked about them all. He loved all his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He always wanted to know what was going on with each of them. He loved his Grace Ann like another sister. Mostly he loved Kay, his boys and the grandkids. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being with them. He coached Christopher and Clint in little league and never missed a game or practice when they went on to high school games. Going to see Parker, Saige, and Livia in choir, plays, and band; traveling the country to watch Lawson play ball; jamming with Logan on the drums and taking Channing and Saige fishing gave him such joy. Nothing brought him more joy than being ‘Pappy’ to his grandchildren. He and Kay spent 52 years loving each other and building a family they loved and were proud. His faithful dog, Rowdy, held a special place in his heart and was a constant companion. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Dalton Guthrie and Oletta (Brown) Guthrie of Bradford, Arkansas. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Guthrie; his sons, Christopher Guthrie (Galina) of Sheridan, Arkansas and Clint Guthrie of Cabot, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Logan, Lawson, Livia, Parker, Channing, and Saige; sister, Kaye Winningham (Tom) of Bradford, Arkansas, brother, Mike Guthrie (Claudia) of Collierville, Tennessee; sister, Pam Shelton (Ronnie) of Cabot, Arkansas; nieces Amber Hayes (Josh) and Sara Beth Kennedy (Justin) Jennifer Winningham, Bliss Winningham Akridge and nephews Wesley Moran and Tyler Winningham (Erin); his beloved sister-in-law, Grace Ann McDougal of Bradford, Arkansas; and nieces Lori Betts (Dusty), Lisa Tedford (Phillip), Shelley Burrow (Andy), Ferra Grigsby, nephew Lance McDougal (Jessica) and many cherished great nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He never met a stranger, always had an opinion to share, and loved his family with all his heart. He loved spending time with his family, boating on Greers Ferry Lake, going to deer camp, collecting guns, and cheering—often loudly—for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He loved music of all kinds and loved to play his favorites for the grandchildren. Rodney was never shy about offering advice, whether it was asked for or not. Those conversations will be missed just as much as his laughter and quick wit. His legacy is one of unwavering love for his family, steadfast loyalty to his friends, and a life well lived. He leaves behind countless memories that will continue to bring smiles, laughter, and comfort to all who knew and loved him. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July16, 2026 from 6:00-8:00p.m. Funeral Service will conducted on Friday, July 17, 2026 beginning at 2:00p.m. Both being held at Powell Funeral Home of Bradford. Interment will follow at Heard Cemetery in Bradford. Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Bradford.
